Skip to comments.Part Two of FDOTís I-4 Expansion Plan Under Fire

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has a grand plan to expand I-4 well beyond the cones and lane shifts that drivers in Central Florida face today. However, those plans could be changing, in part, because of the lengthy delays of the current I-4 Ultimate expansion and the lack of answers being given to Congress about why it is taking so long.
The I-4 Ultimate project was scheduled to be finished in 2021 with two toll lanes running in each direction down the center of the interstate from Kirkman Road south of Orlando to the Longwood rest area in Seminole County. That project is now reportedly at least nine months behind schedule.
U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., said the construction is causing chaos for commuters and is demanding the FDOT and contractors tell her how much it is over budget and how long it will take to complete. So far, she has received no answers.
Its not the answers I deserve, this is the answers Central Floridians deserve. This is taxpayer dollars that are going into a major expansion of a major thoroughfare, Murphy said.
U.S. Rep. Darren Soto, D-Fla., called the FDOT not responding disappointing. He is ready to put restrictions on the next phase of construction. Soto said if that next round of construction happens, there will be restrictions on the federal dollars used in the project.
We would simply put in proviso language requiring them to respond to these matters as a contingency. Theres a way to use the budget package to encourage better communication, Soto said.

Right now I take the tollway around Orlando and actually find it faster up 75 and 301 jogging over to 95 . I4 is a disaster through Orlando
Some freeper called the I-4 the DIE4. I call the Happiest Highway in Earth for all the times the family drove down 95 and made the exit to I4 indicating we are close to Disney and like. I remember when the I4 was just two lanes for each carriageway.
YEp, the 417 is the only way to go. Worth every penny for the toll.
Good, a silver lining...
These democrat idiots couldnt plan a basic two week business project. They are dimwits. The project rebuilding I4 and every exit and entrance is damn close to an engineering miracle. They are carefully keeping it opening from beginning to end. Add tons of rain and unexpected alterations to the plan and its going to go a year or more long. I for one marvel every time I am on it for the past couple years.
I-4 and H-1. H201, interstates ROTFLMAO!
Add to that I-H3, then I-96 in Michigan, I-97 in Maryland, I-2, I-37 and I-45 in Texas, I-87 and I-88 in New York, and I-86 in Idaho.
Intrastates, as it were.
