The head of the Catholic Church in West Virginia — who was expelled over sex harassment allegations — spent millions on luxury travel and doled out lavish gifts to fellow clergy, a report said Wednesday.
Bishop Michael J. Bransfield, 75, showered $350,000 in gifts to others in the church — including some he is accused of abusing and one archbishop who was overseeing a probe into his conduct, according to The Washington Post.
“Everybody’s trying to destroy my reputation,” Bransfield told the paper when asked about the allegations. “These people are terrible to me.”
It wasn’t clear what people Bransfield was referring to.
The details of his spending were included in a confidential report about Bransfield that was drafted by 11 clerics and obtained by the paper.
“Bishop Bransfield adopted an extravagant and lavish lifestyle that was in stark contrast to the faithful he served and was for his own personal benefit,” the bishops wrote in the final report.

The Bishop of Santa Rosa California did just about the same thing. Condo, Credit Cards, Mercedes- Benz, nice vaca with the Bishop. People —— CUT Off the Dollars!!

BWIW an Orthodox Christian Bishop whose Chancery is in WV drives a 10 year old car. Every car that he has owned except for a clunker Chevy Cavalier has been given to a needy person either in his parish (when he was a Priest) or in his Diocese. He never takes a “trade-in”.

Ah the Catholic Clergy, just like their “Brother Clerics over in Islam, except they don’t behead people! The Catholic Church to me, is just like the GOP. Either clean house, or be put out of business! All this business of hiding the bare facts about “priestly assault of little boys” that the Catholic Church has done for a century or more, needs to be stopped cold!
A short version of the title would be “Ex-Bishop Blew”. Says enough!

But not nearly as entertaining and principled as Protestant megachurch pastors who spend millions on private jets because commercial airlines are “tubes filled with demons”.
I will take his word of the NYP until there is more information.
Hucksters on television are not to be confused with real clergy. Even so, as bad as they are they fleece willing adult followers. Compare and contrast with the Roman church that systematically trains and harbors child molesters, then moves them to a new unsuspecting parish when their monstrous deeds start to surface, providing them with fresh new victims.
