Bloomberg Pledges $500M to Get Rid of Coal, Slow Natural Gas Production
Breitbart ^ | June 7,2019 | PENNY STARR7

Posted on 06/08/2019 4:22:04 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Michael Bloomberg is giving away more of his personal fortune to advance his radical environmental agenda, this time pledging $500 million to shutter every coal mine in the United States and slow the production of cheap, clean, and plentiful natural gas.

The New York Times reported on the former mayor of New York City’s Beyond Carbon campaign.

“The effort will bypass Washington, where Mr. Bloomberg has said national action appears unlikely because of a divided Congress and a president who denies the established science of climate change,” the Times reported.

“We’re in a race against time with climate change, and yet there is virtually no hope of bold federal action on this issue for at least another two years,” Bloomberg said in a statement released before he announced his financial pledge in a commencement address at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). “Mother Nature is not waiting on our political calendar, and neither can we.”

Bloomberg wants to close down the remaining 241 plants in the U.S. by 2030.

Bloomberg has announced he will not run for the Democrat 2020 presidential nomination, but fighting climate change is becoming a major plank in many candidates’ platforms. However, none have joined Bloomberg so far in wanting to slow down natural gas production.

Wind produced power during the coldest weather in MN. Their main wind farm was in ND and it was cold there too. In some cases they have (fossil) heaters to warm the oil. In others the heaters can be run from wind as long as there was wind.

It is true however that the only viable heating source for those kinds of winters is natural gas. Electricity, no matter what the source, gets less and less efficient for heating as the weather gets colder.

If Bloomberg wants to pay the full sunk cost of my own coal plant I am willing to take his money. I am a coop member and my coop owns shares in the plant. We pay off that debt for another 20 years or so, whether we run the plant or not. What we pay for coal and debt amounts to 4 cents per kWh. We will need enough money to get the power replacement cost down to the same 4 cents.

First of all - I doubt the $500 million number.

But let’s take it at face value.

The number is probably over 10 years.

So $50 million a year.

Spread over 50 states.

That is $1 million a years.

By the time the staff is hired with do nothing mandatory diversity goals - there will be about $100,000 to spend on actual lobbying or advertisement.

Take them off the grid. Let them produce their own electricity.

What you will find by reading all these papers is that "climate change" is a myth. You will find that global warming is real and it is modest. You will find that the increase CO2 is manmade and leads to a little warming. You will find that sea level rise is modest, about an inch per decade and not accelerating beyond natural accelerations: Greenland with linear ice losses, Antarctica not a serious threat, etc. You will find a lot of weather events have not changed or in fact decreased like strong tornadoes and cold extremes. The jet stream is less "wavy". Heat waves and drought were at their worst in the 1930's.

I have done a lot of research, both sides, leaving no stones unturned. I read the papers, then the papers that cite those papers to see the alternative interpretations. The bottom line is that "climate change" is a weasel word describing a manufactured crisis, and CO2 and warming is beneficial for the most part. Excess CO2 will be easily handled by the inevitable progress in alternatives.

Note that some of the references below contain information that is very likely to be incorrect and I have included them because I discuss everything, every claim, every counterclaim. At some point in a month or two, I will release the whole paper.

“The effort will bypass Washington, where Mr. Bloomberg has said national action appears unlikely because of a divided Congress and a president who denies the established science of climate change,” the Times reported.......Well, first off if the Times reported it, that should tell most of us what we need to know. Then, we can be thankful that Congress is divided on this & most can guess just about where that division lies, and why. Thirdly, saying the science of climate change is “established” doesn’t make it so & I for one am glad that the President feels this way as I feel there are many more reasons for us to side with him rather than Bloomberg or the NY Times.

If Mikey Bloomberg wants to slow down natural gas emissions, he only needs to spend a couple of bucks on two corks—one for his mouth and the other for the other end of his alimentary canal.

Whether it’s hypocritically pushing for gun grabbing even as he has 19 armed bodyguards or now pushing to slow/halt fossil fuel production even as he travels in limousines and private jets, Michael Bloomberg is the most destructive person in America due to his vast wealth. The sooner he finally dies, the better.

And you are correct. When you take out a job that people have done all their lives, they have to go looking for where they can get back into it. That takes out taxpayers, and shoppers which lowers the economy of the area. And if enough idiots realize that closing other business’s is costing them revenue, questions will arise. Hope Bloomberg has answers. Whether they’re truthful or not.
