He was arrested at 13, now Saudi Arabia wants to execute him

Foot on pedal, 10-year-old Murtaja Qureiris is about to lead the group of around 30 children. In video footage obtained by CNN, he is wearing rolled up denim jeans and black flip-flops on his feet, and grinning at the camera recording the event. It may look like a regular bike ride, but the group is staging a protest. Moments after they set off, Qureiris gets lost in the sea of boys, struggling to keep up as he lifts a megaphone and presses it against his lips. “The people demand human rights!” he shouts. As a boy, Qureiris participated in demonstrations like this bike ride, expressions of dissent in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province during the 2011 Arab Spring. Three years after he was filmed taking part in the bike protest, Saudi authorities arrested Qureiris, then just 13 years old. He was traveling with his family to Bahrain when he was detained by Saudi border authorities on the King Fahd causeway that connects the two countries.

At the time, he was considered by lawyers and activists to be the youngest known political prisoner in Saudi Arabia. Now, at the age of 18, Qureiris is facing the death penalty after being held for almost four years in pre-trial detention, CNN has learned.

For starters, A HISTORY OF IRANIAN ATTACKS ON AMERICANS

In this century, starts with all the Iranian Quds special forces operating in Iraq after Operation Iraqi Freedom. My recollection at the time was that the U.S. and allies were in a undeclared war with Iran. George W Bush didn't want to expand the conflict, and tried to downplay Iran's involvement in Iraq.

“The Saudis are the sponsors of Wahabbism.“

Actually, I think this leader is trying to undo that prior inclination.

The ones protesting are the ones most in favor of Wahhabism.

Don’t do protests against a leader that is actually liberalizing Saudi Arabia and is opening doors for women that were previously completely shut. Women are leading organizations and now able to drive, for the first time in “forever.”

The law is the law in what ever country you are in.

If CNN’s for it...I'm against it.
If CNN’s against it...I'm for it.

That's my basic rule of thumb: in matters of politics, morality, society, etc CNN,MSLSD,The Amazon Post and the NY Slimes are *always* wrong.

Always!

Maybe we can make a deal with the Saudis.

We give them a dozen CNN "Journalists" to execute, and they just keep this guy in prison without executing him!

“The UN Working Group said at the group’s 77th session on November 2016 that it believed the minor had been tortured, his confessions “extracted” and that his arrest was arbitrary.”

Did they miss this part: “He faces other charges ranging from violence allegedly committed during protests – including helping to construct Molotov cocktails — to shooting at security forces.......”

I thought they said the protests were not violent? I don’t agree with Sharia Law, as it is limited and one sided. But it is up to the people of the country to determine what they want their country to do. We had the same choices in the latter 1700’s with England and again in the latter 1800’s with ourselves. They need to make their choices and accomplish change if they want to. If not, it’s their decision to allow this. And it isn’t news that makes a difference to us as it is their country and their way. Until it is changed by them. We’ve been getting into too many of these and it has cost us. Let them work it out by themselves, we did.

Uhh.... yes, and no.

Societally, the Saudis are worse, through and through.

A large part of the Iranian population, possibly a modest majority, is OK and wouldn’t be religious crazies.

But, the Iranian ruling mullah class (thanks Jimmah Carter and the MSM), with its push towards regional nuclear dominance, is probably worse for everyone than the Saudi rulers.

The Saudi rulers have a good thing going. The Iranian mullahs are apocolyptic visionaries.

But, given a choice between your secular, non-government Iranian and the average Saudi, I’d go with the Iranian.

I COULD believe the nerve of the sauds asking the US to attack Iran some weeks back.

And even though only a Very Few here were for boots on the ground, that’s a Very Few too many!!

It’s not just the Left and Iran who are trying to drive a wedge between the US and Saudi Arabia.

Many on the Right are also opposed to the US-Saudi alliance, including me.

Here’s the stone cold truth. The Iranians are not the allies of the Deep State. The Saudis are. The Khashoggi killing was Deep State vs. Deep State.

The Crown Prince’s mission is not to reform his country, but to prepare for and if necessary spark a war of annihilation in the region. When that war begins, he and his allies will advance into the Levant, Persia, and North Africa. Along the way they will commit the same tactics of scorched earth and genocide against the local populations, much like ISIS did before them.

When the smoke clears, the Crown Prince will be in control of a Sunni Caliphate that spreads from the southern borders of the former USSR, to the western borders of India, to the Horn of Africa, to the underbelly of Europe. Thus, and Islamist superpower will be born. And it will pose the greatest threat to world peace since the Axis powers.

Now, the Crown Prince is not the only one with this nightmarish vision. Erdogan and the Ayatollahs do, too. But the Deep State supports only two of them. The neocon wing supports the Saudis for one reason only: MONEY. The CIA wing supports the Turks for one reason only: “Russia must be destroyed.” MbS is supported by the neocon wing; Kashoggi was supported by the CIA wing. Both wings are evil and must be destroyed. Too bad Trump has decided to fight only one of them while getting in bed with the other!

Governor got it perfectly correct - encapsulating the problem Iranians are far more civilized and westernized than Saudis. The Iranian leadership is batsh*t crazy, but the people are pretty normal. The Saudi leadership is batsh*t crazy and the people are batsh*t crazy.

The problem I see with war with Iran is, like the Iran-Iraq war, it gives the bats* Ayatollahs a chance to stay longer, playing the patriotic card

The curse of the Saudis is that they could be a very civilized, productive people if they didn’t have a strain of Islam that is “barbaric” and expansionist.

I doubt it - the Saudis are the real, original Arabs/Bedos - lazy and war-like.

They could not be civilized in any way and weren't before the Wahabbis

The Iranian govt wants a nuke to counteract the Sunni nuclear bomb that Pakistan wields.

Iran is the lesser evil compared to the Saudis. Every since terrorist since 2000 has been Sunni and Saudi paid. The Wahabbi-Saudi alliance has radicalized Pakistan, Indonesia, Muslims in the West etc.

No agenda - the Saudi empire IS that evil. And yes, it’s an empire, formed when Al Saud conquered other Arab tribes

The link you gave has zero, zero attacks on the West (forget about America specifically) by Iran. The attacks were on the Saudis and "plots" - in contrast you have 3000 Americans killed by Saudis on 1 day alone. Then you have Bataclan, london 7/11 etc. etc. by the Wahabbis. A ratio of 3000:0 is pretty telling

Stop supporting the evil Saudis (doesn't mean supporting Iran - just let the two fight each other)
