A former Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed an unarmed woman who had called 911 said Friday he "knew in an instant that I was wrong" and apologized to her family, just moments before a judge brushed off a defense request for leniency and ordered him to prison for 12½ years.
The stiff sentence for Mohamed Noor capped a case that had been fraught by race from the start. Noor, a Somali American, shot Justine Ruszczyk Damond , a white, upper-middle-class dual citizen of the U.S. and Australia, when she approached his squad car in the alley behind her home in July 2017.
Noor, 33, testified at trial that a loud bang on the squad car startled him and his partner and that he fired to protect his partner's life. But prosecutors criticized Noor for shooting without seeing a weapon or Damond's hands, and in April, a jury convicted him of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

He was convicted of third degree murder and second degree manslaughter. Apparently, 12 1/2 is the maximum sentence.
Glad he got convicted, glad he's going to prison. Should have been murder-1, but I wasn't prosecuting.
believe it or not, there was a time not that long ago, where ALL Citizens were treated equally, granted Police had some perks, but if you Shot an Unarmed Person, you went to PRISON, regardless of who you were. That all changed with Gubmint Unions

He has to serve at least 2/3 of the sentence. A little over 8 years.
Sorry, had I been his partner and he shot across me like that in the confines of a vehicle, once I got my hearing back he would have to be walking with a look over his shoulder and/or sleep with one eye open.
He should be thrown in gen pop with the Aryans or hopefully he was/is just a richardhead in general and ‘bullied’ his way around Blacks because he was carrying.
The ‘Brothers’ would then take care of him.
Of course one could always start rumors.
He really better watch his step if a dude named ‘Crocodile Dundee’ ends up in his tier.
From what I hear he may not live that long.
If it was New York State, Cuomo would have already pardoned him.

No not weekends...
just 2 weeks a year...the week of Justine’s birthday in April and the week he murdered Justine in July...
How’s that for a spit in the face of her grieving family ???
