Mexico aims to avoid tariffs with potential deal limiting migrants going north, allowing U.S. to deport Central American asylum seekers

U.S. and Mexican officials are discussing the outlines of a deal that would dramatically increase Mexico’s immigration enforcement efforts and give the United States far more latitude to deport Central Americans seeking asylum, according to a U.S. official and a Mexican official who cautioned that the accord is not finalized and that President Trump might not accept it.

Faced with Trump’s threat to impose escalating tariffs on Mexican goods beginning Monday, Mexican officials have pledged to deploy up to 6,000 National Guard troops to the country’s border region with Guatemala, a show of force they say will make immediate reductions in the number of Central Americans heading north toward the U.S. border.

The Mexican official and the U.S. official said the countries are negotiating a sweeping plan to overhaul asylum rules across the region, a move that would require Central Americans to seek refuge in the first foreign country they set foot upon after fleeing their homeland.

“Never underestimate the fact that Mexicans really don’t like Central Americans.“

Problem is, they don’t like us much, either.

Why do we need a deal with Mexico to deport Central Americans?

>> It’s US law that prevents the deportation of “asylum seekers”.

The US has an agreement with Canada (safe third country) whereby asylum seekers must seek asylum in the first country they land in.

The goal, I believe, is to have such an agreement with Mexico. Thus, asylum seekers would have to apply for asylum in Mexico. They would be deported from the US.

Would it survive a court challenge? I don’t know. But the agreement with Canada hasn’t been struck down.

Shooting anyone illegally crossing a border would work.

A 5 percent tariff on $360 billion worth of imports is $18 billion per year. The further increases to 25% would be a cost of $90 billion per year.

One way or another, as President Trump promised, Mexico will indeed be paying for a border wall. If they are smart, they will give more jobs to their citizens, and build a wall across the northern border of their country.

Oddly enough, despite the claims that these illegal Mexicans are coming to the U.S. because they can’t find work, they have a low unemployment rate. It barely went above 5% during our last recession.

Very simple Mexico stops all forms of illegal immigration not only just from Mexico but their South American neighbours. They should also pay in full the border wall all across the southern border and beyond then finally they will reimburse our country for the years of years of illegal immigrantion.

“The goal, I believe, is to have such an agreement with Mexico.”

That is already enshrined in International protocols and treaties.

Mexico is ALREADY SUPPOSED to be doing that.

“...allowing U.S. to deport Central American asylum seekers”

And just who are they to tell us who we can, or cannot deport?

“Mexico aims to avoid tariffs with potential deal limiting migrants going north, “

No dice. What is demanded is a STOP to migrants going north. And the word of Mexico allowing US to deport them from Mexico is meaningless. Once they cross the USA goal line, the courts won’t allow them to be deported.

Tariff until they hurt enough to understand that it must be completely halted!

That all sounds good except there will still be Mexicans and others that somehow get into Mexico coming across.

will make immediate reductions in the number of Central Americans heading north toward the U.S. border.

This is BS. The number should be 0 given the 20 days to exit Mexico (ie, head to the US) and it should be from ALL nations. There are Africans and Cubans stacked up in the south waiting for their "exit" papers.

If PDJT accepts this he has not accomplished nothing with the tariff scare

So, they stop everyone EXCEPT Mexicans from coming in to America

No they said Central America. That does not mean the Chinese, Africans and Cubans that are awaiting their exit papers

Trump doesn’t mess around. Mexico has admitted that they have no control over 80% of the country due to the Cartels. So put the UN on the spot, send a couple thousand UN members under US control to the the Mexico southern border and provide humanitarian aid and BLOCKADE.
