Next up should be the former Sheriff, Scott Israel.

SCOTUS has already ruled that cops have no obligation to protect anyone.

They are not anyones personal protection.

I honestly don’t know why people just do not understand this.

Did you read the charges? Perjury, negligence, etc.

None of the charges have to do with "personal protection."

> SCOTUS has already ruled that cops have no obligation to protect anyone. <

That’s true. But this is different. The 2005 SCOTUS case involved police who didn’t act on a call for help. It was a police discretion type of thing. No one was in obvious and immediate danger when that call first came in.

But in Parkland, there was an obvious and immediate danger. I see this as a “depraved indifference” kind of thing, which is a crime.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. So of course I could be interpreting this whole situation wrong.

It is. These charges of negligence and neglect are attempts to make him responsible for being other peoples personal protection, and the courts say cops have no obligation to save anyones life or protect anyone.

Cops are not kids’ parents and cant be charged with child neglect. If this was true any adult could be charged with child neglect for not helping other peoples kids for anything that constitutes child neglect.

And as far as culpable negligence, by the definition, hes not the only one that this charge would apply to, just about every administrator and adult at that school could also be charged with this, but they are not being charged. Just him.

I dont know how the perjury stuf came up but its a different matter.

They are trying to put all the blame on a coward as opposed to the actual criminal. The guy has lost his job and no one would hire him as a cop. Since they cant beat on the criminal they are transfering all the anger onto this coward. His careers ruined and hes gonna be living with himself the rest of his life working not great at all jobs. Hes gonna have a crappy life until its over.

To dump all this onto him is nuts. His future is very bleak as it is. This is misdirected hate because they cant dump it on the murderer, the real cause of this mess.

I don’t see who it helps to put the guy in prison for 100 years for not having the courage to do his job.

He's currently receiving a pension of $8,000 a month. I don't think he's worried about his career.

As far as the perjury charge, he lied to the authorities about knowing where the threat was located. The authorities have taped evidence that he told other cops where the threat was located and told them to stay away.

At the very least, this malfeasance will be established for public record and the parents can file numerous civil suits against all the cops who refused to do their job.

No doubt scaredy cop deserves some hurt but what about 0bama, the NAACP, and the school administrators who all pushed for and agreed to the policy that left this kid in school when he should have been in jail?

They are throwing everything at him but they only need 1 charge to stick in order to claw back the pension.

It will be the perjury charge, because that’s on tape.

Mostly it’s a show trial for everyone to vent their spleen.

Because it was a school he was in a position as a caregiver to the students so it is more in his caregiver role that he is guilty

“..other peoples personal protection,...”

Why was he stationed at the school? What was his job description? When I policed back in the 50’s I was charged with the instructions, “keep the peace.” What does that entail??

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Well that is one KOOKY way to look at it. Did the coward do his job properly? Did he violate policy?
Someone think that a soft-headed schmuck coward should get a free pass because a killer showed up?
He got paid to do a job, and he failed to do the job on the day it really mattered.

“..position as a caregiver to the students...”

A security officer is told to be a “caregiver??” What does that mean? Wipes their nose when it runs? Gives a shoulder to cry on?

No! A security guard is there to protect.

The perjury charge will stick, he’s on tape lying about what he did and didn’t do, which is contradicted by the recordings of the radio traffic between officers.

The rest of the charges are to appease to peasants with pitchforks.

His lawyer is going to start filing briefs to dismiss charges. All that will happen the trial.
