But I do know about gunfire, don't I? Since then I have been shot at by an Egyptian and Israelis, had a fire bomb thrown at me in Gaza, and faced down some jerk with a 9mm Browning in Virginia Beach, tricked my way through a nighttime blockade in Capas-Tarlac by NPA guerillas in the Philippines - and talked some OMON thugs out of shooting me in Bishkek, Kirghizstan. It's not like I don't understand what it's like.
The school security officer was a disgrace.

Lots of good stuff to talk about! 27 years in the Marine Corps and kept my eyes open.
Sorry I was so snippy with you - I can be a jerk (as many of my fellow Marines would agree) but a pet peeve is when people tell me all of the reasons something can't be done.

A school is not a combat zone. The SRO is not a soldier... In fairness, the SRO should be awarded a Broward County Hero Medal for preventing any vandalism of the principal's or staff's cars, no key scratches, no slashed tires, and certainly no dents from fired brass, since noone was firing back.
and soldiers are not alone.
Never been in combat, have you? I can tell you that you're always alone.

Something isn’t right when the SRO is more hated than the shooter. He is hated because he was an enabler and accomplice, and bragged about what a big hero sheriff's deputy he was.
The shooter was mentally ill, and I suspect he will plead to such. The SRO is a coward, and remains a threat.
