the debt will end when all the land is sold to foreign interests and our children are sharecroppers. no one understands the dangers of compound interest or fiat currency.

so much for the usa and so called liberal values. slavery here we come (again).

:-(

Sorry, I prefer American land owners over foreign landowners of American Land, whether it is farming, chicken farms or timber farms.

I think that is a good thing. I recall early in my adult life, the amount of VERY fertile land outside of Tranna, that was turned into tract housing. The GTA, as it is now called, was only 2.5 million then versus 6.5 million now.

I can only imagine how much more of this valuable resource has been turned over to build housing, especially those from far off lands, who bring their non-Judeo-Christian cultures with them and feel that they are ‘entitled’ to money from the working middle-class, especially from Alberta.

Canadians, remember October 21, 2019! D-day, defeat day for Justine!

Ohhhhh...nooooooooh! The USA is no more or less sovereign based on ownership of farmland.

But Wait, last I heard we were running out of farmland. A few generations ago we where running out of golf courses because the Japan were buying them all, then it was the Russian were buying all the expensive condos. I think India was o the verge of owning all of our steel mills.

Anyone concerned about this can step in and buy all the farmland they want. Ditto for oil and gas wells, steel mills,...

But then putting up is harder then being a concerned one.

And a square 216.5 miles a side. ~217 miles is a string from Green Bay to Valparaiso, or about as high as the space station orbits.

"Just another "sign of the times". . . America is losing its sovereignty acre by acre. "

Oh, bull-bleep. Foreigners have always invested in the USA, including agriculture. Read some of the stories of the Old West, and how much of the US cattle business was owned by British aristocrats. No "sovereignty" is lost.

"That’s your opinion . . .I have mine."

No, yours is an opinion, mine is a historical fact. During the cattle boom years, huge swaths of US soil were either owned outright or controlled by foreigners. That period of history showed no loss of "sovereignty" as a result. In fact, we gained a large number of well-educated citizens as a result.

Why would "now" be any different than "then"?

If they are not farming it and getting money from the government, that is a problem of government and subsidies, not a problem of ownership.

Or would you be fine with it if an American owned it and was getting the subsidies not to produce?

Definitely prefer American ownership of everything from businesses, stores, farms. That way profits are likely to stay in the country. And I always preferred working for American bosses.

I didn’t say anything about profits. The quote was that foreign owners were getting subsidies from not using the land. I would need to see that in paper before I would believe it.

There is no real profit in this day and age of sitting on some land and getting a subsidy for not using it. There are too many ways to use it and get better return.
