Just hours after President Trump announced he will be imposing 5% tariffs on Mexican imports over illegal immigration, Mexico’s president Lopez Obrador sent Trump a letter begging for a meeting to work toward a solution.
“Mexico’s President Lopez Obrador asks Trump to have U.S. officials meet with the Mexican foreign minister in Washington on Friday to seek a solution that benefits both nations,” Reuters reported.

Actually, it’s the opposite. POTUS is actually doing something. What is “kabuki” is you sitting in your armchair complaining about his actions. Instead of virtue signalling your tough on the border bonafides you need to support his actions.

Politically, he can’t. His own party won’t support that and will fight him on it. But do sit in your armchair and complain about one of the few things he can realistically do.

Trust but verify- delay the tariffs for 3 months and see if things get WAY better. If not, review the situation every 6 months.

Doesn't look like "fear and panic" to me. We can get excited when the markets decline 3% or more. Any thing less is normal fluctuation.
Personally, I’d have told the Mex ambassador that “I asked you assholes to stop the illegals and you ignore me. And now I got your attention don’t I? Want me not to impliment this? In 1 week the only thing I want to see at the border is tumbleweeds. I’ll be waiting! This is not negotiable!” Then kick his ass out.
If this starts hurting the big drug cartels, it will be interesting to see the results.

The tariffs are collected by US Customs as products pass from Mexico into America. The tariff, in this instance a Mexican Products tax, is paid by some American individual or company. Generally, the tariff paid by the importer is passed along to the individual end purchaser, the Guacamole eater in the avacado instance.
Since Americans are paying the tariff, there is no Mexican money involved. The tariff in no way obligates Mexico to pay anything into our economy especially not to build the wall.
If paid, the tariffs on Mexican imports come right out of American pockets.
The intent of the tariffs on Mexican products is to retard or end the import and purchase of Mexican products thus doing harm to the Mexican economy. The tariffs are scheduled to increase until the economic pain becomes so great that Mexico must either capitulate or die.
