Shortened title.

Full title: Office of Inspector General Finds Top FBI Official Illegally Leaked to Media – Including Sensitive Info Sealed by Fed Courts – DOJ DECLINES PROSECUTION

The Office of Inspector General announced Wednesday findings of misconduct by an FBI Deputy Assistant Director for “unauthorized contacts with the media, disclosing law enforcement and other sensitive information to the media, and accepting a gift from the media.”

Despite the fact that this senior FBI official, who was not named in the summary, clearly broke multiple laws, the Department of Justice declined to prosecute the individual.

The OIG investigation concluded that the DAD engaged in misconduct when the DAD: (1) disclosed to the media the existence of information that had been filed under seal in federal court, in violation of 18 USC § 401, Contempt of Court; (2) provided without authorization FBI law enforcement sensitive information to reporters on multiple occasions; and (3) had dozens of official contacts with the media without authorization, in violation of FBI policy. The OIG also found that the DAD engaged in misconduct when the DAD accepted a ticket, valued at approximately $225, to attend a media-sponsored dinner, as a gift from a member of the media, in violation of federal regulations and FBI policy.

Even though this high ranking FBI official leaked sensitive information, including the existence of information that had been filed under seal in federal court multiple times, they were still not charged.

Well, I can understand that. They’re still working on their backlog of people who were copying VHS tapes back in 1982.

Why can’t the media be charged with bribery?

“They’re still working on their backlog of people who were copying VHS tapes back in 1982.”

So they must have worked their way through that backlog of mattress tag-cutters finally.

I think if he was a cooperating witness they wouldn’t clear him until after he helped convict the target.

Who are they talking about? The reference, from page 430 of the OIG Report, does not name individuals.

“although FBI policy strictly limits the employees who are authorized to speak to the media, we found that this policy appeared to be widely ignored during the period we reviewed (April/May and October 2016). We identified numerous FBI employees, at all levels of the organization and with no official reason to be in contact with the media, who were nevertheless in frequent contact with reporters. The large number of FBI employees who were in contact with journalists during this time period impacted our ability to identify the sources of leaks. For example, during the periods we reviewed, we identified dozens of FBI employees that had contact with members of the media.”

In a separate thread, Freeper be-baw pointed out that this likely does not refer to Andrew McCabe, who was Deputy Director (DD), but might be Peter Strzok, who was a Deputy Assistant Director (DAD).

It might also be any other DAD who happened to be caught up in the review, but whose actions were found to be insignificant/non-criminal, unlikely to result in conviction, or who may have made a cooperation deal with prosecutors.

Barr is not in charge of the DOJ apparently.
Proof was Mueller’s presser today and this further confirms.

Please ping when indictments are handed down.

Otherwise, just more DC Kabuki theater. Nothing happens.

Why can’t the current AG decide to prosecute. The case wasn’t adjudicated and dismissed with prejudice. The statute of limitations has not run out. Make this the first of many, AG Barr.

"..the Department of Justice declined to prosecute the individual."

Wouldn't want to embarrass the intelligence community.

We’re fortunate they didn’t imprison almost all of us for not destroying the tax stamp when we opened a pack of cigarettes back in the day.

Yeah, now they are in big trouble.

I see reports every few months that lay bare their crimes. But I never see 5am FBI raids with a platoon. I never see them bankrupted with threats to harm their son like they did Flynn. I never see them thrown in solitary like Manafort. I never see them and their lawyers gag ordered like Roger Stone.

nothing.

The IG "exists" to point out "mistakes and errors" so that they would not be made in the future.

He/she (the IG) merely points to those "errors and mistakes" and may recommend those "errors and mistakes" be taken to a grand jury after a member of the Department of Justice determines that enough and/or serious enough "errors and mistakes" occurred so as to be thought serious so a federal grand jury may hear about them and ask questions of witnesses and even the perp him/herself to agree to charge the person(s) with a crime and bring to a trial.

Unless this person worked a deal to go after bigger fish, the left will rightfully take this decision as license to wage war against all non global socialist, just as they have been getting away with violent protests, assaults, and IRS targeting.

Without a special prosecutor going after this massive tidal wave of targeting innocent and federally framed citizens, and full on Leavenworth style, or death penalty consequences, the anti-American, no moral boundaries, left will with their new overt default totalitarian federal police power, take down every liberty loving non-global socialist across America.

This is a near mirror image of what the socialist did to the German population they wanted to get rid of.

The left is carrying out the destruction of liberty, and loteral enslavement and death of our American society.

Lefty’s like Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Polpot,Castro etc... could not have taken us down, eliminate our liberty, or rule over us, like the anti-God, humanistic, global socialists in America are carrying out with little pushback.
