Robert E. Lee graduated second in his class at the US Military Academy, but decided to abandon his country and fight against it as leader of the new CSA country’s army. Where’s the honor in that? The CSA was a state created to preserve the institution of slavery as its main reason of existence. Just compare the US and CS constitutions.

He fought for his STATE, which was an actual thing back then.

See Joshua Chamberlain, 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Projecting your current view of the country on totally different views of the past makes your analysis useless.
