Trump orders immigrant welfare crackdown, reimbursements
Washington Times ^ | May 23, 2019 | Stephen Dinan

President Trump ordered federal agencies Thursday to begin enforcing existing federal rules against immigrants who end up on the public dole, telling the government to begin demanding the money be repaid by the immigrants’ sponsors.

The move is aimed at legal immigrants who are generally supposed to prove they are able to sustain themselves without becoming dependent on welfare assistance.

Mr. Trump, in his new directive, said a 1996 law on the subject is plenty tough, but the government has never actually followed through on what Congress wrote.

We can only hope. They’ve been the bane of western civilization for too long.

I COMPLETELY agree with your train of thought, BUT

THIS thread deals with LEGAL immigrants who guarantee that they, along with their sponsors, will not be a financial burden on the country while they hold immigrant status.

I suppose all bets are off once they become citizens

It’ll stop the most blatant abuses. America will likely remain centrist about most things, this too — falling on welfare after naturalization won’t be made cause for rescinding naturalization, absent a manifest plot.

How about zero transfer payments or state supplied services for five years from legal entry?

“We haven’t had a President that sided with the citizens and the rule of law in a long time.”

Just think where America would be today if Trump, not GHWBOOSH, had followed Ronald Reagan into office! How much better off we would be today if we had not had to suffer with the Booshes, the Clintons, and Obola! That we hadn’t had to suffer with worthless/ POS’ RINO candidates like Dole, Mc Cain and Mittens. It is amazing to me, the clarity that Trump has brought to our politics!

“I suppose all bets are off once they become citizens.”

Part of the process of becoming citizens should be proving that you will not become a charge to the rest of us. No money, no citizenship. It should be that simple. You should not get a government credit card along with your citizenship papers!

Why did it take 2.5 years to do this. AND do not tell me that it was because Congress was holding him up. This should have been day one shiite.
