That might be the Fort Leonard Wood tornado.
I think that was the one where a bunch of people were saved in the beer cooler at the gas station. Some magazine did a REALLY good write-up on that. Might have been the year anniversary of it, getting long detailed interviews with everyone. That little section of the small building was the only thing still standing for several square blocks!
The video I’ll always remember about Joplin was the High School.
That was my first thought - and fear - when I saw it. It looks like two, maybe three, funnels dropping.
There is a guy streaming on Facebook and is watching the dam to see if one of the barges hits it. Nothing so far and they don’t know where the barges are.That is just nuts!!

The northern section of this front that hit Jefferson City has raced all the way east across IL and is entering IN still quite severe although no tornado warnings just wind gusts to 80 mph possible. It is very fast moving, if you live in Indiana or far south IL or even western OH you may get hit by this before it dissipates around sunrise. (no tornado likely just wind gusts and hail).
The southern part of the front still in the Ozarks of MO will head for southern IL and western KY and may also remain active all night.
Prayers up for MO, won’t know much until daybreak I would suspect.

Looks like it just plowed right through the center of town. Someone tweeted that a car repair shop was “shredded”.
“E Capitol and Jackson...building colllapsed”, per the scanner.
They aren’t allowing people to go back to get their pets. :(
Lookner has been covering this with great detail for the past 6 hours. Amazing how much more you get from him than any news outlets.
Just saw the map of the tornado’s path and it covered a chunk of territory.
Now they’ve gotten another report of a collapsed building. Most buildings at that intersection look residential.
When Steve showed the google earth view it looked like there were a couple of small office-type buildings.
The pictures are of a war zone.

I feel for those who are being held back. If they care half as much for their pets as I do ours, they’re miserable right now.
He is a rock star when he’s on a news story. If it isn’t confirmed, he won’t talk about it. He hasn’t eaten anything in all of these 6 hours, either.
