Republicans are moving fast to squelch Justin Amash's rebellion against Donald Trump before his conclusion that the President "engaged in impeachable conduct" -- the first by a GOP lawmaker -- can gather momentum.
But Democrats who want a more hardline strategy against the President are seizing on the Michigan congressman's sudden intervention to pile pressure on their own leaders for tougher action.
Amash's act of conscience on Saturday sparked immediate speculation over whether a tiny leak in the Republican dam could grow into a torrent of support running away from the President.

Must have been an auto-speller error.
What they meant was actually Amashs act of cowardice....
Little "r" rINO outing himself as a true democRAT.
Or maybe he's trying to take the mantle of "maverick" from John McCain.
Backstabber of the GOP.
What a BS article. No wonder the media are so hated. Yet they keep on keeping on with their vile, despicable lies.
It's about time too
It's way past time. Under Traitor Ryan, this should've been nipped in the bud. I suspect that "our" Republicans don't care about President Trump. They care about the next election.
Will Trump take down Amash at the rally?
No bias in that statement, right?
Mental masturbation on the part of CNN. Not even hardline democrats want impeachment proceedings. This Amash guy is an attention whore. Looking to get his name out there. And CNN is only too happy to swallow the load.
Specifically, impeach for what high crime or misdemeanor?
(Haven’t read the story, just doing the usual FReeper thing, posting without reading)
What REALLY needs to be done, is kick to him completely out of the GOP, and announce the fact that he will not be allowed to run ever again for any elective office as a Republican! Let the little Palestinian pr!ck go caucus with the RATs for the rest of this term.
Well, well, well, look at what we have here!
Hopefully Justin Amash and other Republican Rinos lose their shirt over corrupt investing in China.
May Republican’s China investment scams FAIL.
“act of conscience”
More biased editorializing by cnn
Maybe his “act of conscience” was a result of blackmail by leftists
Republicans INVESTING AGAINST AMERICA.
Republicans Short Selling America.
The media did not steal the documents. For that they would have had to have access to government classified documents. Officials within the government stole the documents and leaked them to sympathetic media people. Thus, the media who published the story did nothing illegal, just irresponsible. It’s the government leakers who broke the law.
But, as I say, if there’s a CW II, there’s no telling what an angry mob of deplorables might do to a notorious fake news talking head before the federal troops show up to save him from the noose.
If those spineless weasels had any compunction they’d do just as you wrote.
Sadly, I think they do nothing to Amash
The STUPID PARTY!
Act of conscience? HA! He is a self serving, lying never-Trumper because his family business imports its product from China! Everyone knows one of President Trumps signature issues is the trade imbalance imbalance with China.
“Good. It’s about time too. “
They heard his speech on immigration and realized he’s now their boy.
Yet another reason (as if I need more reasons) that I donate to the Trump Campaign direct, and not to the RNC. I disregard all the letters from Steve Scalise (that appear to be for the Congressional re-election committee but the checks go to HIS campaign), any letter from Tokyo Rove, and even every letter I get from Newt. As long as there is no tangible reigning in of Romney (McFlake NoName lite), Piss-Any Amash, and other NeverTrumpers and grow a spine with some testicles hanging below, count me OUT. By the same token, Trump needs to clean house within the party and get them squared away.
Is PotUS baiting Amash to get him to bait the Progs?
