California braces for feet of snow from storms; 'significant severe weather event' to impact Plains

Parts of California still resemble a scene out of winter, with a series of storms bringing several feet of snow to mountain areas, ahead of a "significant" severe weather threat across the nation's midsection.

The National Weather Service said that a series of Pacific storms are bringing heavy rain, mountain snow, and gusty winds across the West. A winter storm warning was issued Wednesday night that will run through Friday morning for the southern Sierra Nevada.

The first storm, headed in from the Gulf of Alaska, is expected to bring up to an inch of rain in some areas of the Sacramento Valley and as much as 2 feet of snow in some mountain spots at elevations of about 7,000 feet.

Snow could fall at lower elevations on Thursday with 6-12 inches expected at pass levels, the National Weather Service said.

"Daytime highs today will drop as well down to as much as 20 degrees below normal for the date,"

Don’t be so narrow minded. Excessive snow is caused by rising temperatures, obviously.

Significant weather events that were never named before are now given names simply because they want to say “more named storms last year than ever before, proving climate threat is imminent”

It looks like the snow is only going to be in the mountains.

The rest of the west coast is getting rain.

Weather happens.

The scientists, the relevant ones- the real ones, are looking forward to a cooling trend that is already under weigh due to the sunspot minimum as happens periodically: see Sporer Minimum, Dalton Minimum, Maunder Minimum, all times of at least northern hemisphere cooling and famine because the crops didn't grow. There was ice skating on the Thames in Dickens' time. The Norsemen got chased out of Greenland by the end of the long warm period and abundant crops there. The French Revolution was fueled by famine because the crops had failed for two years of cold growing seasons in a row.

and now our wonderful scientists abetted by the Crazy Left have begun the spreading of a reflective layer of nanoparticles high in the atmosphere as per EPA papers in the last two years- that's the "chemtrail"s the conspiracy nuts have been raving about for years- and there is a startup company that has a technology capable of sucking the CO2 out of the atmosphere to create fuel thus removing that which plants need to grow just as we are entering on a longish period where the colder weather makes it harder for plants.

Perhaps it is all as the population-reduction fanatics would like it. Solar Minima in the past have resulted in some population reduction due to famine. This time Science and the EPA is helping the project along.

When all that snow melts next month and hits the fire denuded hills it’s not going to be pretty.

Same here in Placerville. Sunny now, but waiting for the down pour and hopefully Thunder storm. Love the spring storms here in the foothills.

I remember snow fell on us in August, 1953, Pikes Peak.

I remember 1986 or 87, snow fell again on Pikes Peak, in July,

And then come the floods, mudslides, power outages, extinction of endangered species, wailing and gnashing of teeth followed by billions in aid payments which they will redirect to feed illegals.

“Before the democrats chased me out of Colorado...”

I told the wife I wanted to move back to Tennessee or at least Wyoming. She loves it here in Boulder county. It’s ‘vibrant’ you know.

In the Mississippi Valley last winter, every time it snowed, the weather guessers fell all over themselves telling anyone who would listen that the cold and snow piling up was just "weather"...nothing to worry about...and this in no was conflicted with the ongoing global warming/climate change mantra.

This spring when all of that "weather" snow melted and flooded the upper Mississippi, those same fools stood there telling everyone that this was proof positive of severe climate change.

Proof that weather is just weather except when it isn't.

I’m torn here. On the one hand I hate the Night King and the army of the Dead smells. But on the other it is California. I might be willing to let the Night King have this one.

Weather where I live near Los Angeles has been 5-15 degrees below average for 90-95% of the year so far. Strangely enough, yards more land mass failed to appear as the oceans failed to recede.

Global warming reports need to begin starting with, “Once upon a time...”

I have been freezing my ass off in San Diego this year. We have only about 3 or 4 days this year when the temperature has hit 72 degrees farenheit. I will suck it up and stop complaining.
