If they never make it across the border in the first place they can’t surrender to a Border Patrol agent.
That’s the whole purpose of a wall.

Speaking of outdated. The whole "anchor baby" debacle is a travesty that desperately needs to be eliminated. It was enacted to deal with the question of citizenship status for freed slaves. Not to allow millions of foreign opportunists to leech off America's generosity.
It needs to be repealed and applied. Retroactively.

Take away birth citizenship
Take away ALL welfare/health benfits for non-citizens
Take the biometrics of any person stopped, bar them permanently from entry
And....we might have to shoot some of them.

This is absurd.
What our political leaders have created is what insurance companies call an “attractive nuisance”. Open borders, and a generous welfare state open to all comers.
So major party political candidates are totally fine with both open borders and simultaneously demanding that “every human being” within our borders has an automatic claim on our resources, simply due to the fact they are here. “Show up, pay up” in a nutshell.
This has to stop, there is no way around it, and our politicians have to recognize they are creating a humanitarian crisis, not solving it.

Lindsey does not want a wall. I disagree.
I do like his idea of having them apply for asylum in their home countries. We actually need to reduce chances to obtain asylum.
To: jazusamo
They forget to mention that this assault on our nation is orchestrated and financed by players like Soros.

I do think we need a wall, but Graham is absolutely right that we need reform in the underlying laws on immigration and asylum. Otherwise, no matter what the President tries to do, courts will keep striking it down. His key insight -- "they want to get caught".
Very true.

I like what I hear and have read about Graham’s plan. So far, I don’t see anything wrong with it. It addresses a lot of the problems and sounds do-able.
It’s Congress’ responsibility to fix the laws that got things so screwed up. This is the first immigration reform proposal to Congress that we’ve seen in a long time.

Be better if they never even reach the wall in the first place.

Lindsay wants a wall...
This is about the technical aspect of asylum. and it makes perfect sense. They should have "papers" of some sort and children with birth certificates if applying in their home country. Of course, we need to sit at the table to review any incoming.
To: lee martell
He didn’t say he doesn’t want a wall.
He said a wall is for preventing illegal entry but doesn’t work on people wanting to turn themselves in to claim asylum.

A wall will reduce the number of people who make it across the border, and makes sense for that reason. But it won't eliminate the problem, and some will still make it across. The laws need to be changed to address that.
Graham also is 100% right on the need for more immigration judges.

Why am I
OBLIGED to take asylum seekers into my country?
People worthy of asylum to this country should number less than 100 per year.
(Our politicians are abusing us with the asylum BS)
