Not sure I understand your question.
It may be that you are suggesting a simple description of the motivation for the attempted coup; and, if so, most of us can provide that in a few short words. And, it could be done without reference to either why Trump was "necessarily kept...in the dark", or Sessions' deceit and betrayal.
But I hope you are not suggesting Sessions' behavior lends itself to a simple explanation (you probably are not). In this case, that deceit and betrayal of a trusted insider that had the president's ear served as perhaps an indispensable tool and was a primary element of the operation.
Nor should we disregard the corruption of at least 3 of our nation's highest agencies; also most likely indispensable tools that advanced the attempt.
Yes, I am suggesting that Sessions behavior can be explained by one of two simple scenarios. Either he is part of the DS and was used by the darker figures in the coup or Sessions is a timid imbecile who was in over his head dealing with the coup plotters. I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was foolish enough to believe the DOJ lawyers who told him (incorrectly) that he must recuse himself. After the recusal he became an albatross around the neck of justice.
Had Barr been appointed rather than Sessions none of the Mueller witch hunt would have occurred. The coup plotters would be facing what they are facing now two years ago.
If all of this was part of a Sessions master plan that Trump knew nothing of were Mike Rogers and Devin Nunes in on it? Without those two this Sessions plan would have failed and Trump would have been gone.
