Jim Cramer: You Better Strap Yourself In

All I can say is you better strap yourself in because, the next six months I expect to see tariffs on the other $300 billion we import from China because it's become clear that President Trump has decided that the U.S. simply shouldn't do business with China and if you do you are going to have to pay the price.

There's also threats that they will cut off our liquefied natural gas exports to them.

Now, here's what's pretty ironic about this list. The vast preponderance of these goods are made by farmers. The farmers, the president said, are going to get checks for the best year they ever had with China. Those goods will go elsewhere anyway so the farmers get a real payday. Could be a big win for them. Of course. They always seem to win. Jeffersonian instincts? No, more about primaries and two senators per all states, especially farm states.

A couple of these are funny: DVRs, cameras and gloves? Our manufacturing base for all of those were wiped out years ago, with the Chinese being instrumental in the destruction of the glove industry.

Liquefied natural gas? That's like Boeing planes: get in line. There is multiple year demand for our natural gas. We spoke with both Charif Souki, the founder of our export industry, and Tom Farrell, from Dominion Energy (D) -- strong stock there -- which exports natural gas and both have told us there is simply nothing to be had for years and years and years. So that's a real non-starter.

So where does it put us? I think that the president's view, the one says "there will be nobody left in China to do business with. Very bad for China, very good for the USA," scares investors who are panicking ou

Isn’t there a...very simple explanation that doesn’t include Sessions’ use of double secret 4D chess that Trump was necessarily kept completely in the dark about?

Not sure I understand your question.

It may be that you are suggesting a simple description of the motivation for the attempted coup; and, if so, most of us can provide that in a few short words. And, it could be done without reference to either why Trump was "necessarily kept...in the dark", or Sessions' deceit and betrayal.

But I hope you are not suggesting Sessions' behavior lends itself to a simple explanation (you probably are not). In this case, that deceit and betrayal of a trusted insider that had the president's ear served as perhaps an indispensable tool and was a primary element of the operation.

Nor should we disregard the corruption of at least 3 of our nation's highest agencies; also most likely indispensable tools that advanced the attempt.

Yes, I am suggesting that Sessions’ behavior can be explained by one of two simple scenarios. Either he is part of the DS and was used by the darker figures in the coup or Sessions is a timid imbecile who was in over his head dealing with the coup plotters. I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was foolish enough to believe the DOJ lawyers who told him (incorrectly) that he must recuse himself. After the recusal he became an albatross around the neck of justice.
Had Barr been appointed rather than Sessions none of the Mueller witch hunt would have occurred. The coup plotters would be facing what they are facing now two years ago.
If all of this was part of a Sessions master plan that Trump knew nothing of were Mike Rogers and Devin Nunes in on it? Without those two this Sessions plan would have failed and Trump would have been gone.

Ok, he may be both but your argument better supports the first possibility. If he was in over his head, he didn't have a master plan and if asked he would have tendered his resignation or taken some other action that satisfied Trump.

As it is, it seems somewhat likely Trump has been satisfied with waiting for the optimal political moment, while trusted assets have been gathering evidence and credible witnesses are recruited.

This cluster caused by his recusal resulted in the Mueller witch hunt. The very real question as to whether Trump would survive caused the nervous RINOs in Washington to shy away from him, costing Trump most of his agenda. The cloud of the investigation plus the resultant lack of legislation cost Trump the house in 2018. Sure some DS operatives might get indicted but this is in spite of the calamity that was Sessions at DOJ. You and I apparently disagree on how close we came to seeing a successful coup in this country. Had it not been for Rogers and Nunes alerting Trump to the danger he would not have survived, all due to Sessions’ actions.

Quite wrong, and a bizarre interpretation of my writing.

I happen to be one of those who believes the coup would certainly have succeeded with a Hillary victory, and even today wonder at how it was that Trump prevailed. You will note by my posts from months ago that I was one of the early FReepers that wrote about a coup.

You and I haven't even talked about the actual coup. The target of the coup was not Trump but America as we have known it. I remain concerned whether the momentum of the coup attempt has been completely halted.

You can have the last word. Perhaps you will use it to succinctly describe the "simple explanation" you referred to in your first post.

When I speak of coup I’m talking about illegally stripping a duly elected president, Trump, of his office thereby overturning a national election. To me that is much more serious than stealing an election via strategic voter fraud (Kennedy/Nixon). Had the left, using police state tactics and apparatuses, deposed Trump there would have been no turning back. You and I would have reclaimed our nation in the streets or it would have been forever lost. In my opinion we have never faced a greater threat to our country than what has just been repulsed, not the Civil War, not WW II.

Taiwan is actually pretty good at this.

They’ll just up their game.

The less business we do with the CP, the better off the world becomes.
