Thats about SOP here. I am in Davao City, so I already knew who Duterte was. His daughter is now the mayor, and his son is the vice mayor. They are keeping it in the family. 😁 I hear she got 97% of the vote. My wife had to go to Davao Del Norte, to vote.
I believe most Americans think the rest of the world thinks the way they do. Maybe it would be better if they did, but they dont. As far as I know, no one has been held accountable for the Maguindanao massacre, or the Mamasapano massacre. If you are looking for a justice system that works, dont go to the Philippines. It doesnt exist here.
Yes, Duterte is popular. Many Americans, who have never been here, may not like his tactics, but most Filipinos do. He gets results, and many dont care how he does it. I dont believe the big wigs are let off the hook for the drug thing. The former head of the NBI (same as the FBI) was fired from her position, and jailed for drugs, so I wouldnt say anyone is letting them go.
The way it was explained to me, they have a policy. They go to the drug dealers, and say, find another line of work. That is knock knock talk. If the dealers dont find something else to do, the next time they knock on their door, it is knock knock, BANG. no explanation required. 😁
That's gotten us in a lot of trouble over the years.
I listened to much of one of his two hour 11 PM speeches and he said it again in English ... If you bring drugs into my country, I will kill you.
Thanks Mark. If drugs are especially bad over there, killing young people and tearing apart the society it is hard to blame those affected for wanting the strongest actions to combat it. Sometimes the greater good is all you can get out of a situation. I don’t want to be someone who looks in from outside without asking why and us it being effective? It’s good to hear the reality of the situation. Hope yo h are doing well bro!
