If memory serves, then candidate Donald Trump criticized GWB for spending trillions but getting nothing (like oil) for it.
Based on that I will assume that if and when we strike, what was once Iranian oil will now be American crude. Then the oil will be flowing, and so will the money.
Wonder if that automatically makes us part of OPEC - wouldn’t that be an interesting twist in history...

It might be that we just deploying to deter a possible Iranian operation.
They must be getting desperate, and might lash out.
Keep the guns trained on them, and starve them out with sanctions.
Pompeo did divert to Baghdad from Berlin, so maybe they were planning to attack US troops in Iraq.
