Mitch McConnell Reiterates Edict: ‘Case Closed’ on Russia, Does Not Defend Burr’s Rogue Subpoena
Breitbart ^ | 9 May 2019Washington, D.C. | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 05/09/2019 11:31:44 PM PDT by conservative98

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday evening reiterated his edict that the case is closed when it comes to Russia, choosing not to publicly back a rogue subpoena from Senate Intelligence Committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) when offered the opportunity by Fox News’s Sean Hannity.

While McConnell was clear in restating his view that the case is closed, contradicting Burr’s rogue subpoena of President Donald Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump, Jr., he also did not criticize Burr.

Hannity asked McConnell: “What is Senator Burr doing? Did he not hear your message?”

In response, McConnell replied:

Well, I think the good news is that Chairman Burr has already indicated that the committee will find no collusion, because that will be consistent with the Mueller investigation. I think this is going to have a happy ending. I understand the president’s frustration here, but I think this is just a blip. I think the case is closed. I think the controversy has been concluded. I don’t think the House thinks that, and I think they’re going to continue to try to stir this up, but enough already. I mean, we found out from the Mueller report that the Russians were deeply involved in it, there were something like 18 to 20 indictments of Russian companies and Russian individuals who were trying to get into the campaign and to mess with it. I think it’s over and I think it’s time to let it go and move on and deal with the people’s business.

Hannity followed up, asking: “Specifically, is that your message to Senator Burr?”

You’re saying there’s a reason it’s called KY Jelly?

*NEITHER* party has anything going for it, agenda wise, come 2020.

Huh?

Trump is now the GOP.

Trump has produced the best economy since forever, he is dealing with Communist China's outright theft of America, he is weakening the EU (the SOCIALIST EU) and encouraging Brexit, he is supporting Israel, he is calling for the collapse of the Maduro regime, he is blockading Cuba, he is cutting off (from Fed funding) colleges and universities that ban free speech, etc., etc., etc.

What in the world are you talking about?

Trump is single-handedly fighting the utter nonsense that is socialism by putting the free market concept of America back on a path for success.

The “rogue” part is just a front. If Mitch didn’t want it, Mitch wouldn’t have it.

McConnell should have taken the opportunity to verbally and publicly chastise Burr.

Hey Mitchie….TAKE BURR’S CHAIRMANSHIP AWAY...TODAY, BUD! Or else you are just showing your STUPID BUTT!

Ditto. Now that Jeff Flake is cleaning toilets somewhere, I guess the GOP needs another back-stabbing asshole to harass our President.

I don’t consider Trump the GOP, and I don’t think they ever did (or ever will), either.
I consider him the head of the Trump party which just doesn’t exist (yet).

He never answered the question, at all. Hannity didn’t do his job very well. He should have put him on the spot and called him out for not giving an answer as to why McConnell allowed Burr to do this. Disappointed here.

What I mean is that Trump now owns the GOP. NeverTrumpers in the GOP are not welcome and are being marginalized and shown the door.

Burr is not running again and taking one for the Never Trump team. None of the other GOP are resigning from the committee. There is your clue they agree with him. Cotton, Rubio, Cornyn, etc. All of them.

Hannity is a GOTV GOP cheerleader at this point. Nothing more. He never engages the establishment like he did in years past.

"Hannity" is about Sean Hannity. I'm surprised McConnell was able to say anything at all.

Bingo!

This is classic “Please don’t throw me into that briar patch!”

We actually benefit from Don Trump Jr testifying - he is probably eager to be on prime time showing off his wit and charm before a friendly Senate committee, defending his Father’s record, and letting the Democrats and MSM make asses of themselves yet again.

The President and Republican leaders are no doubt crafting this media event - they are sad to see the Mueller witch hunt end - it was political GOLD - to be perceived by the public as the innocent victim of an ugly Democrat political witch hunt...

Pure Gold, I tell ya!
