CNN wasn't doing the interview. It was an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).
It was religious/political grandstanding for both CBN and Pompeo.

How about stating the fact that as Christians we cannot presume to know the mind of God other than as revealed in His Word?
That's "religious kook" enough to give to please those who want the answer to be "yes" without characterizing the President as anything other than the President of the US.

The video shows it was a ‘do you think’ question. Pompeo did not initiate the conversation. He just said it was possible. What was he to say? CNN is doing their fine work of twisting things again.
