Madness: Nadler Gavels in Hearing Without Barr, Cuts Off a Republican's Mic

Update: Following the "hearing," Chairman Nadler doubled down on his belief that Barr is "afraid of cross-examination." Ranking member Doug Collins, who has sat on the committee for six years, said what he witnessed this morning was "unprecedented."

ORIGINAL POST

The House Judiciary Committee hearing with Attorney General Bill Barr proceeded on Thursday without the witness. He was expected to answer questions about special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation for the second day in a row, but decided against it because of arguments over who would be interrogating him. Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), for his part, insisted that Barr was afraid to answer questions.

In his rebuttal, ranking member Doug Collins (R-GA) noted that Barr sat for six hours before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Clearly, he's not terrified of sitting before Congress. The issue, Collins said, was that the Democrats wanted staff members to ask questions of the attorney general.

"If that staff member wants to ask questions, run for Congress," Collins suggested.

The attorney general is not here today, he added, "because the Democrats didn't want him here today."

Rep. Doug Collins said "the reason Bill Barr is not here today is because Democrats decided they did not want him here," adding the House Judiciary Committee isn't getting the chance to hear from Barr "because the stunt and the circus continues" https://t.co/3mq7FTP7vY pic.twitter.com/etzPJ73utw— POLITICO (@politico) May 2, 2019

Nadler did not directly respond to his colleague's remarks, instead concluding the hearing with his gavel. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had begun to speak up with an objection, but Nadler ignored him and cut the Republican's mic.

.@RepJerryNadler: "We will defend the prerogatives of congress. We'll defend the rights of the American people to know what's going on"@mattgaetz: "There is not going to be a recognition of members who seek legitimate inquiry as to the procedures?!"

His mic is then cut off. pic.twitter.com/k4qqXva1iC— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) May 2, 2019

We always thought it was the 'pubs who would seize losing from the jaws of victory. (keeping it real). With an honest, open process, the dems could beat President Trump.

Why? He didn't stand up to Traitor Ryan and his henchmen and balance the budget or do infrastructure. Defeating Obamacare never should've been close enough for McCain to do his thing. Granted, the dems would not have done anything either, but these are talking points in that handful of states that could go either way.

I love the way Barr stands up to their infantile behavior. The best way to marginalize a politician is to turn him/her into a joke.

It would be more entertaining to see them all hung for treason.

Below is why Nadler, H. Clinton, every left wing Congressit and their mediots are going after AG Barr: He is after the leakers and those who used the leaks!

AG Barr: ‘We Have Multiple Criminal Leak Investigations Underway’ After Russia Probe

On Wednesday, Attorney General William Barr revealed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched many investigations into the constant leaks to the media during the Trump-Russia investigation. The DOJ is examining just exactly how mainstream media outlets had scoops on the investigation long before Congress had heard anything about the subject matter.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) asked Barr about the leaks in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“The Inspector General found that during the department’s investigation of Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information, there was a culture of unauthorized media contacts. During the Russian investigation, the leaks continued. Leaks undermine the ability of investigators to investigate,” Grassley argued. “Further leaks to the papers while Congress’s questions to the department go unanswered is unacceptable.”

“What are you doing to investigate unauthorized media contacts by the department and FBI officials during the Russian investigation?” he asked.

“We have multiple criminal leak investigations underway,” Barr responded.

Later in the hearing, Sen. Joe Kennedy (R-La.) suggested Barr extend the probes to special counsel Robert Mueller and his team as well. “When you’re investigating leaks at the Department of Justice and the FBI, I hope you will include the Mueller team as well,” Kennedy said, concluding his remarks.

Last month, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said he had sent multiple criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, including some related to leaks.

“There are five direct referrals based on lying, obstruction, congressional investigation, and leaking. We have a global leaks referral, which involves just a few reporters but could involve multiple people. I don’t think it’s that many people because I think they probably only have a few sources within these agencies,” Nunes said.

Nadler: "We will defend the prerogatives of congress. We'll defend the rights of the American people to know what's going on"

What's going on, Jerry, is Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton fair and square and you folks can't stand the thought of it, so you're doing everything in your power to get rid of him, just because. THAT's what's going on here.

You know.... would love to see Barr call a little presser in one of his conference rooms. Explain that he has unexpected time today... and invite all of the Repub congresscritters (and any dems who want to be there) to question him for a couple of hours. Press is free to cover it or not...

To get his weight down from 400 pounds at 5 ft.4, Nadler had bariatric surgery in 2002 to staple his stomach partially closed.

The doctors should have kept going and stapled his mouth. We’d all be more peaceful today.

Remember Jeb Bush sullenly urging his small campaign rally audience to “applaud?”

I feel the same way about the allegedly clever and allegedly funny stunt with the KFC bucket. Henny Youngman’s feeding them comedy gags now from the Great Beyond? I forgot to laugh.
