Damned Marxist democrats trying Stalin’s art of air brushing his own history. It won’t work out well.

They probably melted it down, and if not, they’re accelerating plans to do so now.

How about demanding most major league baseball teams be run out of business? It took them until 1947 to allow blacks in the mlb.

. . . amid concerns over racist lyrics in songs she recorded decades ago . . .

Exactly what were the lyrics? Stephen Foster supposedly had lyrics about African-Americans being homosexual in the summertime. So the idiot mayor of Pittsburgh had the statue of arguably the best musician this city ever produced removed.

Absolutely right. My WWII vet father remembers her coming out on a tugboat to sing to the troops as their troop ship left for the ETO.

A slap in the face to the Greatest generation.

The worst part about this is that Kate Smith was not a racist -- not even a little bit. Here's another quote from her from 1945:
"It seems to me that faith in the decency of human beings is what we must have more of, if there is to be a future for all of us in this world. We read in the papers every day about conferences on the best way to keep the peace. Well, I'm not an expert on foreign affairs—and I don't pretend to know all the complex things that will have to be done for a lasting peace. But I am a human being—and I do know something about people. I know that our statesmen—our armies of occupation—our military strategists—may all fail if the peoples of the world don't learn to understand and tolerate each other.

"Race hatreds—social prejudices—religious bigotry—they are all the diseases that eat away the fibers of peace. Unless they are exterminated it's inevitable that we will have another war. And where are they going to be exterminated? At a conference table in Geneva? Not by a long shot. In your own city—your church—your children's school—perhaps in your own home. You and I must do it—every father and mother in the world, every teacher, everyone who can rightfully call himself a human being. Yes, it seems to me that the one thing the peoples of the world have got to learn if we are ever to have a lasting peace, is—tolerance. Of what use will it be if the lights go on again all over the world—if they don't go on ... in our hearts."
Taken from Don't Touch That Dial: Wartime Radio And Racial Stereotyping, where the quote is introduced as "one of the strongest and most impressive individual denunciations of racism."

The attacks on Kate Smith are slander, pure and simple.

I think the real reason they’re doing this is to ultimately get “God Bless America” banned. Kate Smith is one of the best known singers of the song, and her version is/was a go to for several sports teams. The hatred for such a patriotic song, esp. with “God” in the title, must be too much for certain special snowflakes!

I told you that they wouldn’t stop after they took down all the Christopher Columbus statues.

On the list: ALL the founders of this country. All Christian symbols. All Whites.

I’d like to thank the Flyers and NY Yankee organizations.

By removing this offensive statue, and her song from their games, they have relieved me the burden of ever having to attend one of their over-hyped, over-priced children’s games.

Wildwood is defiantly proud to continue to play Kate Smith’s “God Bless America” every morning across the boardwalk and to welcome her statue - interesting to watch the reactions to the brouhaha through man in the street interviews on local TV - many and probably most blacks think the whole thing is overblown, including one young man who said it very well - “if we keep worrying about things from the thirties we’ll never get out of the thirties” - would have bought him a beer had I been around when he said it......

The statue of Kate Smith must be covered to protect the wounded virtue of a faction finding moral certitude from exchanging a multitude of social media posts; all detached from any legitimate philosophy or spiritual faith. The instigators trade adulthood and dignity for prestige without accomplishment. The subservient parties receive effortless addictive compassion as the drug of choice.

The true objective here is America. Here is an example of using someone’s human frailty to disparage the country. They didn’t go after 1930’s singers Evelyn Laye, Helen Morgan or Kat Thompson for committing similar offenses, because they didn’t sing “God Bless America”. The monument does not venerate the person but testifies to the extraordinary achievements in producing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which define the identity of America.

These documents stand in the path of those embracing a fiction proclaiming infallible direction of human activity. These politicians become patricians stand ready to offer responsive administrative laws and rules. Such creations supposedly provide supportive emotional security for all, but actually compel a subservience of citizens never intended by our Constitution.

True compassion and leadership would come from understanding how very few individuals cannot receive the freedom to create, encourage, explore, repair, analyze, develop, build, cooperate, serve and/or teach and become heroic as they exercise their intangible natural liberties as guaranteed by our Constitution.
