Sorry looks like a bunch of us replied to you
No problem. Lol. I lived in the Denver area for many years and should have known better.
You’re nice to say that. :)
My father was born in Artesia and his grandparents are buried there
Other kin buried in Santa Fes...my grandfather had a place there
Southerners who went out to build roads in 1900 or so
My uncle is buried at the national cemetery north of central Santa Fe off. Guadalupe
I went out every year as a lad and still do with my kids 50 years later
Dad had a place tween Tesque and Taos once too
A less me-centric hero might have said: “When the car came to a stop, flames were visible in the rearview mirror. Thank God He gave me the strength to jump from the car and run towards the flames to see if anybody needed help. Hopefully somebody would do the same for me rather than just watch the whole thing and do nothing. I didn’t do this all myself. There were other people there that helped.”
Nobody knows who the real heroes are until the moment arrives.

You might actually be THE most inauthentic and self-absorbed person I’ve ever met on FreeRepublic. I seriously think that you might need a therapist. I’m not trying to insult you; I think your emotional detachment is likely causing very big problems in your life right now. Who hurt you recently? Seriously. Think about it.
“Reeses” is exactly the antithesis to the new era of President Donald Trump. I’m sick of phoneys and they should NEVER be tolerated on what Jim Robinson worked so hard to build here.
I know the area well and can relate.

Cuban national charged with 4 counts of vehicular homicide.
much better
Thank you, Delta 21. Nice of you to let me know.
Person 2: "When I came to a stop I look in my rearview mirror and all I saw was a bunch of flames. And I jumped out of the vehicle as fast as I could. There was so much fire at the time that I couldn't even really approach any of the other vehicles to see if there was any other survivors or what."
Person 3: "Person 1 is a hero, person 2 is a me-ro."
Person 4: "Person 3 might actually be THE most inauthentic and self-absorbed person Ive ever met on FreeRepublic. I seriously think that they might need a therapist. This person is exactly the antithesis to the new era of President Donald Trump. Im sick of phoneys and they should NEVER be tolerated on what Jim Robinson worked so hard to build here."
LOL
“Government regulation of the trucking industry causes more fatalities.”
“How so?”
During the Obama Usurpation Ray LaHood served as the Secretary of Transportation.
LaHood was an Illinois RINO who refused to sign the Contract With America and organized “retreats” where RINO’s and democrats would gather to fight the conservatives.
When he was nominated he let it be known that he would be an antagonist in all things related to the trucking industry.
LaHoods DOT started forcing companies with shaky log book records to go to Electronic Logs. Those companies were then forced to lobby the DOT to mandate the EL’s industry wide.
He then initiated a major re-write of the Hours Of Service rules that drivers have to adhere to.
Under the old rules a driver had ten hours of driving between eight hour sleeper breaks.
If a driver was tired they could take a two hour sleeper break, wake up and continue to drive with the sleeper break extending the ten hour rule.
There were times when I was sick and would drive for four hours, sleep for four hours, drive for four then sleep for four. Each sleeper break extended my driving time until I reached the seventy hours maximum per seven day period.
When writing those old rules experts in all fields of health, including sleep specialists, were heavily consulted.
When the LaHood DOT re-wrote the HOS rules in 2011 they completely ignored health specialists and pandered to touchy feely special interest groups.
The new rules implemented in February, 2012 kept the seventy hour and added an eleventh hour of daily driving but specifically did away with the split sleeper provision.
A driver then had eleven hours from start of day to do whatever driving was possible.
Sick? Too bad, gotta drive.
Tired? Too bad, gotta drive.
Stressed? Too bad, gotta drive.
Crappy weather? Too bad, gotta drive.
Getting the picture?
Part of the explanation was that truck drivers needed to adhere to the circadian rhythm like everyone else.
The problem is comparing transportation and anything else is comparing apples and oranges. LaHood didn’t care, he had an agenda and he ran with it.
He bragged about taking a picture of friends of his who died in a truck accident to every meeting of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee as a House member.
He promised to keep that picture on his desk as SOT.
Couple the 2012 HOS and Electronic Logs and Obama and LaHood decreased safety on the highways.
Take it from someone who was there.
