And that this explanation also explains why it is now coming back, in communities of people from countries that were not vaccinated, and in places where anti-vaccination beliefs are higher?

A few citizen anti vaxxers is no problem, but I’d bet my house that this problem is caused by the third world invasion....we were fine before unvetted foreigners started brining their diseases into this country.

My view exactly but there are those like in NYC who won’t do the measles vaccinations.
Don’t libel Patrick Henry!!! In fact, he acted against the modern anti-vaxxing position as much as was historically possible! As Gov. of VA during the revolutionary war, at Geo. Washington’s bequest, he signed new VA law to let Washington impose mandatory Variolation (smallpox vaccination’s more dangerous predecessor, Jennerian Vaccination not yet having been discovered,) upon the entire Continental Army. It worked and arguably saved the revolution. And I’m very proud that a cousin, then serving as Surgeon General, did much to implement that mandatory policy. It may well have been an even greater service to his country than his having earlier signed the Declaration.
Have the CDC, NIH and Surgeon General total staff of doctors and nurses transported to the Southern border and have them inoculate every illegal alien with measles, mumps, whooping cough, yellow fever, malaria, smallpox, cholera, etc. vaccines and quarantine everyone with TB, STDs, scabbies, etc.
Please note that the Obama admin had all the health professionals hired by the government for service by the border services sign NDAs to keep the public from discovering the massive amount of illegals coming across the border with horrendous diseases.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports 695 measles cases in 22 states.
"This is the greatest number of cases reported in the United States since measles was eliminated from this country in 2000,"
says a CDC statement issued late Wednesday.
The primary source of measles are 'travelers' who have come from foreign nations.
"The longer these outbreaks continue,
the greater the chance measles will again get a sustained foothold in the United States," the CDC said.
Seems like the “anti-vaxxers are only harming themsleves...and I’d wager that, like when i was a child in the ‘50s, most of the measles cases don’t do any more harm than what the occasional bad reaction to a vax does to others.
As always, people don’t read the literature. To much emotion, to little facts.
