A Massachusetts judge and a court officer accused of helping an illegal immigrant flee an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent waiting to take him into custody were indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury for obstruction of justice and three other counts, officials said.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts Andrew Lelling was set to officially announce the charges at a 12:45 p.m. news conference, according to a tweet from the office's official account.

Newton District Court Judge Shelley M. Joseph and the court officer, identified in court documents as Wesley MacGregor, face several charges stemming from an April 2, 2018 incident in which the pair allegedly helped Jose Medina-Perez get out of the courthouse via a back door in order to elude the ICE agent who sought Medina-Perez. They're both charged with obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting; obstruction of a federal proceeding, aiding and abetting; conspiracy to obstruct justice; and perjury.

Had he gone on to commit a violent crime, they would be doomed.

Not really. Kate Steinle dying in her father’s arms shows half the country just doesn’t care about Democrat enabled criminal aliens.

It is very noteworthy that he was caught again and another judge cut him loose.

This is what results when worthless Republicans rubber-stamp every Democrat judicial nominee for 40 years. We are now being ruled by black robed despots who have nothing but contempt for us and the Constitution

People who harbor or house them should be treated as accomplices in their crimes

I remember that case! Some good news, thanks for posting!
Hopefully the judge will have plenty of time to reflect when she has to swap that little black cocktail number for the orange suit!

To me this isn’t very much about the judge, or that individual who evaded ice. This is about sending a message to activist judges who think they can get away with making the law however they see fit.

My cat loves to do that, over and over again, it never gets old it seems — quite alarming when he takes a notion to do so in the middle of the night!

Do judges have to members of the bar?

Here in Pennsylvania they do. Personally I find that Constitutionally dubious, and if I'm ever independently wealthy I may toss my hat into a judge's race to try and prove my point.

That is a term the libs use extensively. Here is a classic example of real obstruction of justice.

The feds need to apply it to all sanctuary states and municipalities.

In Massachusetts anyone can be a judge. It is an appointed position, not elected. Most are political appointees who contributed to the Governor’s campaign.

I’m surprised they got an indictment in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. Andrew Lelling has been a busy little lad, what with this and Admissionsgate on his plate.
