In response to media inquiry and FOIA demands, the government of Australia formally admitted today to the role of High Commissioner Alexander Downer and his engagements with George Papadopoulos in 2016. The timing coincides with the Mueller Report (released today), which states it was information about this engagement from Alexander Downer that opened the FBI counterintelligence investigation in July 2016.
The Australian government cited the conclusion of the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation as the background for their willingness to comply with an 15-month-old FOIA request from Buzzfeed News.

A Berlin court ordered Germany’s far-right party to retract a false accusation that the country's environment ministry gave money to Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign. Georg Pazderski, leader of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AFD) party, was ordered to scrub its website of the accusation and issue a correction stating that the German ministry "paid no money whatsoever to support the Hillary's election campaign,”Deutsche Welle news reported.
Pazderski and his party claimed that millions that Germany’s Federal Environment Ministry donated to the Clinton Foundation’s climate initiatives in Africa were really funneled into Clinton’s campaign.
The Clinton Foundation was (cough) funding projects in Africa as part of the International Climate Initiative, the newspaper reported. Germany’s Federal Environment Ministry first began donating to the initiative in 2013 — years before Clinton kicked off her race for the White House. The court ruled that the false accusations recklessly jeopardized “public confidence" in the federal ministry by making the claim that a German agency had intervened in the U.S. election. The populist AFD first made the
accusation in a November 2016 press release that Pazderski wrote, Deutsche Well noted.
The environmental ministry won a court battle against AFD weeks after the claim went up but the now the group will have to issue a retraction.

“Act of War?”
No, just Australia honoring a secret treaty, going back to the end of WWII, the 5 Eyes agreement. Obama’s spies/thugs requested that the UK and Australia honor a request approved by our FISA court. Those FISA approved requests were sent to Australia, the UK and Canada (?) to spy on/monitor/surveil candidate Trump and his people. Then, President Elect Trump and his people and probably even President Trump and his people.
The 5 Eyes treaty enabled The UK, Canada, Australia and
New Zealand to spy/monitor/surveil our people when we requested the spying via the FISA courts.
Then, to report their findings to our president and his other top level administration people.
In turn we spied, monitored/surveiled on their citizens when they requested.
This was set up to avoid any country from “illegally” spying on its citizen.
Supposedly, our FISA courts protected our citizens and had to approve each request that any of the other 5 Eyes countries to monitor specific citizens and to limit findings to those citizens or to say no.
The Dems have owned and controlled our FISA courts for decades. Who would they protect and say no surveillance of, or would release the intel services of a 5 Eyes country on to, fellow Dems or people Trump and his people.
An interesting past re 5 Eyes, apparently two of past Aussie Prime Ministers didn’t know about 5 eyes as they were considered to be security risks.
So it is not an act of war. It was an abuse of the FISA courts by Obama/Brennan/Clapper and??
Besides directing our venom at Obama and his attempted coup followers, we should reevaluate any need of the 5 Eyes agreement.
We probably should drop our membership and refuse any requests from the other 5 Eyes people to spy on their people.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed Thursday his office is still investigating possible abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act by the DOJ and FBI in their investigation into President Trump and associates of his 2016 campaign.
The revelation came during a panel discussion in Washington, D.C., when Horowitz was asked to divulge his biggest projects.
“We have a FISA-related review that people might have heard about that the deputy attorney general asked us to take a look at. But I’m not going to dwell on that,” he said at the event alongside three other inspectors general hosted by the Atlantic Council.
Horowitz did not comment further. The moderator, Sarah Lynch of Reuters, made it clear that the watchdog’s FISA abuse probe was off-limits for further questions. “I was also asked to just tell everybody — please don’t ask about an ongoing investigation. Don’t ask Michael [Horowitz] about the FISA-Carter Page investigation. He can’t talk about it. As much as we all want to know what the finding will be,”
Nearly one year ago, on March 28, Horowitz announced the start of the FISA abuse probe by his office, saying he was doing so following requests from then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Republican members of Congress. These GOP lawmakers alleged the DOJ and FBI had abused the FISA process and misled the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in their investigation and surveillance of Trump and his associates during the campaign and Trump’s administration.
