(CNN)"On April 13, 2019, at approximately 2 p.m. CDT, five to six Mexican military personnel questioned two U.S. Army soldiers who were conducting border support operations in an unmarked (CBP) vehicle near the southwest border in the vicinity of Clint, Texas," US Northern Command told CNN in a statement. "The US soldiers were appropriately in US territory" during the encounter, the statement added. During the incident, the Mexican soldiers pointed their weapons at the US troops, removing a soldier's sidearm and returning it to the unmarked US vehicle, the officials said. The Mexican troops were armed with what appeared to be assault rifles (Snip) Officials said that the US soldiers allowed the weapon to be taken "in an attempt to de-escalate a potential volatile situation."

One of the American soldiers spoke some Spanish and was able to explain the situation to the Mexican forces. The two sides talked the incident over and promised to de-conflict in the future, the officials said. "An inquiry by (Customs and Border Patrol) and (the Department of Defense) revealed that the Mexican military members believed that the US Army soldiers were south of the border," Northern Command said while adding that the US troops were north of the border. "Though they were south of the border fence, US soldiers remained in US territory, north of the actual border," the statement said, adding that "after a brief discussion between the soldiers from the two nations, the Mexican military members departed the area."

We should call home all diplomats that are stationed in Mexico.
And warn all Americans about traveling to Mexico.
If this map is correct, it is possible the encounter was just north of Clint, where it appears the actual border for a bit is to the Mexican side of the Rio Grande—and so the US soldiers could have been on that side of the river, where the Mexican soldiers mistakenly indeed thought they were in Mexican territory.
But if Mexican soldiers are patrolling right up to the border, we need a greater show of US soldiers guarding on our side.
It wouldn’t be the first time that a meandering river has caused border problems.
The wetbacks with AKs obviously had to be in US soil to take the pistol from the US soldier
Thats one thing about fences; if it is not right on the border people will move the border.
Los Zetas (trained by the US decades ago as counter-cartel forces who later sold out to the same cartels) dress as soldiers and use unmarked vehicles while they work for one cartel or another.
I stand by my plan for the border.
ROE free fire zone;
Daytime air: A-10s;
Nighttime air: AC-130s;
Remote GAU-9 gun towers;
Interlocking fields of fire;
No prisoners.
Why arent the mexican soldiers DEAD!??!
Pistols are not effective against full auto weapons. Our guys were outgunned.
Armed incursion by a foreign government-respond in like manner until they stop this crap or declare open war.The invasion of our territory has got to stop!
This seems a bit more intentional than say, accidentally invading Canada..
We are still deescalating in Korea.

Which - if they had ‘snuck up’ on them - would justify ‘disarming’ all for the safety of all, much as we would have (probably) done had ‘we’ snuck up on them. The report also pointed out that the Mexicalis put the US weapons in the vehicle (pointing out -again - unmarked)
I am sure the report has been ‘redacted’ and like someone here had pointed out, US troops were probably ‘unloaded’ anyway ... All this BS brings back to mind US sending uniformed-Unarmed (well not ‘battle ready’) National Guardsmen into Airports to ‘stem/quell’ terrorists.
All that happened is they became ‘targets’ had anyone been trying to plan anything...

This has been going on for years, our country needs to take it far more seriously. Border Patrol and citizens living on the border have encountered Mexican Military in US several times. This article from 2014:

Or the USS Cole .
= = = = = = = = = = =
USS Cole was more ‘bullheadedness’ on the part of people not ‘schooled’ in Military ways, making Military decisions.
If citing a ship, I would think more along the line of USS Pueblo and or USS Liberty (which, IMNSHO, was no ‘accident’)....maybe started that way but those that made the original ‘mistake’ seemingly did EVERYTHING in their power to sink her ... EVEN had LBJ and AHole MacNamara on ‘their side’.
Then again, you appear to have been in the ‘mix’ in regards to these incidents....
Not the 1st time, won’t be the last, our soldiers are not allowed to fight back. Happened frequently under 0.
USS Cole the ship’s watch was unarmed which was my point.
Yes and then have Trump get on TV saying “The bombing will start in 5 minutes”.
Hey, wrong turns weren’t my fault.
