If that turns out to be true, I owe Islam an apology. But lying cover-ups are so common, will we ever be sure?

It was an “electrical short-circuit”.

Riiiiiiiight.

I hope it’s true, but it’s sad that there will always be questions since we know that the media feels that politically inconvenient truths must be suppressed.

First, i would wait for their apology for attempting to destroy civilization for past x many centuries?

They need to erect the world’s largest scaffolding “shed” around the structure and get a temporary roof over it so the years of work can begin. This will not be pretty.

When you think about the construction methods of the time - the walls were just stone blocks stacked high and braced with flying buttresses. There was no structural iron work at the time. So, what burned was the timber that formed the roof trusses and rested on the top row of structural stone. Assuming that stone was not damaged, you need to design a new roof and install it. The ornamental stonework repair will take a long time, but depending on whether a faithful restoration is required, or if modern methods and materials could be used (aluminum structure to roof?), the basic repair may not take that long.

The question for me is why didn't firefighters find the fire when the first alarm went off.

How extensive was their search?

The alarm went off and clearly there was a fire.

If they didn't see the fire why didn't anyone smell the smoke? Why were they so quick to determine it was a false alarm and leave?

Regardless of how the fire started the fire team has questions to answer.

You can’t even assume that - the investigators haven’t been allowed in to investigate yet!

I don't think we ever will. The cowardly left tries so hard to excuse Islam every chance it gets, that it is becoming difficult to take them seriously when they say "not terror (Islam) related". It's like the many times in his life that Bill Clinton has probably said "I did not have sex with that woman". Maybe one of his many denials is the truth, but the pattern of lying has already been set.

It may be that it was a short circuit, but if it wasn't, I still think they'd say it is; so, we'll never know for sure.

This is nuts.

The architect with the previous renovation in the 1990's says (quote) "There's no possibility of a short circuit."

YouTube interview (with English) with Notre Dame renovation architect

And he says you would need extremely high temperatures to catch a massive oak beam on fire. How is it than in 850 years of lightning strikes and whatnot, these gigantic ceiling supports --- from such big oak trees they can't even be replaced by anything now growing in Europe ----didn't catch on fire, but now there's this puff of smoke, and before you finish your croissant and your cigarette, the whole freaking roof is ablaze??

It's either the pious, religiously devout Ummah or the dear enlightened rationalist children of Voltaire: the "Ecracez l'infame" Left.

I ask you: should I put up this YouTube as a separate post?

Easiest way to get away with it. Just do shoddy work in the right place.

Yeah - but they already “leaked” that there were supposedly 2 sources of the fire....
