Yuma, AZ mayor declares state of emergency as migrants inundate the city

The mayor of Yuma, Arizona has declared a local state of emergency due to the flood of migrants, released from custody, who are overwhelming his city and is asking the federal government for help.

Yuma Mayor Douglas Nicholls said the crisis was overtaxing the city's ability to care for the flood of released immigration detainees - many of them families - who have filled the shelters to capacity with more coming every day.

Fox News:

“I am calling upon the federal government to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yuma, as our NGO’s are overcapacity and cannot sustain providing this aid,” the post said.

Nicholls, in a video, laid out his reasoning behind the declaration, saying that he ultimately feels that its what’s best for both Yuma and the incoming migrants.

“So it’s with a heavy heart that I declare that we’re at this point but it is something that I believe we need to do to make sure that our community is maintained and that the human rights of all the migrants are also maintained and that we have a path forward that respects both,” he said.

The city of Yuma, Ariz., also tweeted about the proclamation, citing Nicholls, claiming that released migrants were coming into the area faster than they were leaving.

During a recent visit to El Paso, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan said the border has hit its "breaking point." It appears that Yuma has gone past that. When Donald Trump declared a state of national emergency at our southern border, Democrats accused him of playing politics. I wonder what they think now?

Rarely is this brought up. It’s Known As Reciprocity. We should be treating anybody illegally crossing the Mexican border into the US the way the Mexican’s do treat any American illegally doing the same.crossing into Mexico. Entry denied, fined, and possible imprisonment, then deported .

Democrats with their open border jingo bingo should not be allowed to allow to pervert the concept of sovereignty get twisted into being propagandized as “White Nationalism”. Use of that term is usually directed when the immigration issue is brought up to devalue of the protections an American citizen have by being one. When allowing the hordes illegally entering the US through the Mexican border avoid recognizing and dealing with the 2nd class treatment that American citizens get while legally residing in Mexico which not just includes denial of voting privileges but employment, and land ownership in their name. All of which when given to illegals and property ownership by them is used in territory of states which Mexico reclaims as theirs claims which we have been ignoring but could be problematical should any reclaiming effort by regime changes in Mexico arise , Our border with Mexico has always been contentious, those barriers are a must .

He doesn’t want to deport them

He wants extra money to feed and house them?

I don’t know the origin of this map, but there are NO sanctuary cities in Oklahoma. You can go to https://cis.org/Map-Sanctuary-Cities-Counties-and-States

It is updated.

I believe the map reflects money paid out by the Obama administration to ‘settle refugees’.

The inference is that some cities took it a further step and declared themselves to be ‘sanctuary cities’.

What’s wrong shipping them by train? A few cattle cars would hold a lot of people.

I'm reminded of this old 'tricky' question: Which is farther west, Reno, Nevada or Los Angeles, California?

Heck; it’s only about a 7 mile walk from downtown Yuma to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico.

Give them the old heave ho!

Time to sue and/or shut down groups who aid illegals by encouraging them to come to the U.S.

Don’t think you can close down an existing group that plays by the rules.

Also, the IRS should look into the tax-exempt status of these groups, esp. those funded by Soros, Tides Foundation, the Churches, Tom Steyer, etc.
