Holy Week terrorism?
My first thought also.
They’re pushing the “renovation” theory so hard it’s obviously terrorism.
Someone said they were doing restoration.
Until you post, I had not even considered that the timing is definitely suspicious considering it is Holy Week. I was so shocked by the fire that the timing had not occurred to me. It is only a matter of time until most of the great monuments to civilization are topped by "accident".
I visited that beautiful Cathedral in 1960, when I was stationed in Germany. There were actually still French Catholics that went to daily Mass back then.
Today, in France, like the US, Catholics are in a rapid state of decline. It's too hard to believe that some being is greater than my iphone {if I had one}.
No one will be shocked when the cause of the fire is stated.

It's awfully hard not to think that way since there have been many church desecrations across France this year.
