“to send immigrants”
They aren’t “immigrants”, they’re illegal aliens.
My apologies, because I did not clarify my response very well. That link shows the Federal law that to aid and abet Illegals is a crime . That includes harboring and assisting them. Therefore, these mayors and governors have broken Federal law, yet nothing is done.
It appears to me that Californuia’s Sanctuary law makes it a Crime for Any Public Employee/Servant to even make an inquiry to DHS/ICE/Border Patrol. Send them ALL to San Francisco and Hollywood to be loved.
I'm reading this article and wondering who are these people who are just now getting this? The rest of us have thought this forever.
If the democRATS want to designate their cities and states and a sanctuary for illegals, what is this problem if immigration authorities just deliver the illegals to their doorstep?
I think it's a brilliant idea to take the pressure off of the border states and cities from having to shoulder all the burden of illegal dumping.
After all, these sanctuaries will take care of them, feed them and protect them from the feds.
What's there not too like?
What I especially like is that Trump is exposing these sanitary city types as hypocrites. Classic Trump.
They should be returned to Mexico or the country they originated from.
Allowing them entry will make it much more likely we will never be rid of them.
Bush League Republicans are already planning the next amnesty.
Poor attempt at political ju-jitsu by the AP.
They are already staying in America. Let them stay in the Sanctuary cities.
They will be. Once the “Sanctuaries” are severly overrun with illegals, AND providing no federal bailout funding... you can bet the house that the leftists will soon do anything for some relief. As it is now, San Fran is probably going to have to use patty-plows to be able to navigate their streets... imagine more hundreds of thousands of “immigrants” sauntering and milling around town waiting for their just desserts. At least they’ll be safe from the big, bad old ICE.
Still, I maintain that in addition to the sanctuary cities, several hundred thousand need to be dropped off in DC, the Hamptons, the Catskills, Vale, Miami Beach, Orlando, anywhere rich people vacation or coagulate, Dade and Palm Counties. Use your imagination. I’m willing to wager that you’d get action on not only building an ironclad wall at the border, but on immigration in general.
Damn straight. Flood Pacific Palisades and Hollywood with tens of thousands of illegals!
I agree with the premise of the article - Trump’s proposal to send illegals to sanctuary cities will backfire, because it will make it harder to capture and deport them in the future without the cooperation of local law enforcement.
Build the effing WALL!
We were also promised an end to chain migration. There wasn't much headway on this even with Republican majorities in both houses of Congress, so I doubt we'll get any progress on this front with Democrats holding a Congressional majority.
More than halfway through his Presidency, I cannot even determine how much new wall is being built. If someone really, really knows, post it. I have found data on existing fencing being repaired/upgraded. I also read about a bid being awarded for new wall. Also, of the $1.3 billion Congress gave Trump, those funds have not been totally expended yet, and the 3 or so billion from re-appropriating funds (national emergency) have yet to be touched.
I agree. Also, Democrats are already making plans to transport the Illegals back to red state or conservative areas of states after Trump flies or buses the to safeguard areas. Furthermore, it is against US Law to aid, harbor, abet illegals. By being complicit in doing so, our side cedes the moral high ground.
The President has been great on Israel, rebuilding the military, and many other issues.
Agree. I still support Trump because he's as good as we're going to get at this point, but that doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed on a lot of issues.
It seems as though Trump's major successes were only in those areas where the GOP establishment in Congress had an agenda that aligned with his - tax cuts (for some), judicial appointments, etc. On immigration, trade, and much of foreign policy, the GOP establishment in Congress either made no effort to help (at best) or worse, made every effort to stop him. Well over half of Republicans are ideologically closer to Jeb Bush than to Donald Trump, and so probably oppose not only the wall but any sort of restrictions on immigration.
Part of the problem is that Trump surrounded himself with cabinet appointees who were themselves establishmentarians, the other issue is that there's only so much a President can do unilaterally. The nationalist agenda Trump ran on cannot be implemented without nationalists in Congress.
