Trump sanctuary city idea could help migrants stay in US

An idea floated by President Donald Trump to send immigrants from the border to “sanctuary cities” to exact revenge on Democratic foes could end up doing the migrants a favor by placing them in locations that make it easier to put down roots and stay in the country.

The plan would put thousands of immigrants in cities that are not only welcoming to them, but also more likely to rebuff federal officials carrying out deportation orders. Many of these locations have more resources to help immigrants make their legal cases to stay in the United States than smaller cities, with some of the nation’s biggest immigration advocacy groups based in places like San Francisco, New York City and Chicago. The downside for the immigrants would be a high cost of living in the cities.

The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University announced this week that an analysis found that immigrants in sanctuary cities such as New York and Los Angeles are 20% less likely to be arrested out in the community than in cities without such policies.

“With immigrants being less likely to commit crimes than the U.S.-born population, and with sanctuary jurisdictions being safer and more productive than non-sanctuary jurisdictions, the data damns this proposal as a politically motivated stunt that seeks to play politics with peoples’ lives,” said George Gascon, district attorney for San Francisco.

Trump has grown increasingly frustrated over the situation at the border, where tens of thousands of immigrant families are crossing each month, many to claim asylum. His administration has attempted several efforts to stop the flow, and he recently shook up the top ranks of the Department of Homeland Security...……….It’s also unclear how long the immigrants would stay in these cities.....

"could end up doing the migrants a favor"

The media can't help but destroy themselves.

They cant put “down roots” they are illegal and all have deportation orders. They are the Democrats new slaves.

Challenge the anchor baby ruling and giving social security bennies to criminal migrants and the roots no longer have soil.

Deport the thirty million criminal migrants and we no longer have a housing crisis either.

This article is a top headline on Drudge, in red, since yesterday. I was surprised no one posted it.

What I don't understand (and I really, really don't understand this) is why these mayors, governors, and other officials who are implementing "Sanctuary" policies are not arrested for violating Federal law?

Because what they are doing is against the law.

https://www.justice.gov/jm/criminal-resource-manual-1907-title-8-usc-1324a-offenses

Why is it impossible to enforce that law? A "better" solution is for the Feds to start aiding these illegal invaders and flying them to selected cities and states? The illegals can then simply get in a car and be in your neighborhood in a few hours after the Feds spent money to fly them there.

From the article:

Flights chartered by ICE cost about $7,785 per flight hour, according to the agency, and require multiple staffers, including an in-flight medical professional. The agency also uses commercial flights. Doing longer transports would increase liability for the agency, especially considering that many of the immigrants in its care are families with young children.

Deport the thirty million criminal migrants and we no longer have a housing crisis either.

In 1955-56, Eisenhower deported an estimated 1.3 million illegals back to Mexico. It was called Operation Wetback.

Why is it impossible to enforce that law?

Because it is a federal law and up to the federal government to enforce it. States cannot be required to enforce federal law for the federal government. The Supreme Court decided that back in the 1850's.

You’re exactly right. This is also why local sheriffs had the legal authority to refuse to arrest people who violated the Federal assault weapons ban in the 1990s.

Flooding these “sanctuary cities” with the swarm of “immigrants” is the perhaps most appropriate action to take against these “enlightened” scofflaws who are otherwise unmoved by appeals to their better selves and common good sense.

When it is finally hammered home to them that the “new people” are NOT universally good and hard-working people seeking only a better life, this may awaken in these virtue-signaling city fathers some sense of responsibility and yes, guilt, whereupon they will finally be persuaded to to the right thing, and renounce their doctrinaire demands America should “accept” the new normal.

“found that immigrants in sanctuary cities such as New York and Los Angeles are 20% less likely to be arrested out in the community than in cities without such policies.”

That problem will be taken care of sooner rather than later I think.

…”favor by placing them in locations that make it easier to put down roots and stay in the country”.
Yeah. That is where the Welfare payments are processed and are disbursed most efficiently by the political hacks..
.......
and that means that more EAST SAINT LOUISs & DETROITs will be taking root in of the ashes the slum cities.

It’s not Trump’s idea. It’s the idea of whoever came up with ‘Sanctuary City ‘ long before trump even announced his candidacy

I, for one, am not surprised to realize Sanctuary Cities’ are Sanctuary Cities in name only. I am surprised that pundits have not brought light to it the way Trump has.

I suspect that regular Americans like us have said this very thing for at least the last 10 years.

I’m beginning to develop a new level of admiration for this man—who else has the balls to take the damnable Cloward-Piven Strategy and cram it in the face of the bastards who are trying to destroy this country? Would somebody who has it handy add a link to the original CPS article and post it frequently? People in this country don’t know there’s a playbook, and the RadLeft is following it word for word.

If the sanctuary cities get loaded up with new hordes of illegals how long will it be before they figure out they made a big mistake?

When the "We Love Illegals" movement has lost a hard-core leftard like Cher the handwriting is on the wall.

Trump sanctuary city idea could help migrants stay in US

As long as we are in the "speculation is news" business, Trump's sanctuary city idea could help state and local jurisdictions to abandon sancuary policies.

States cannot be required to enforce federal law for the federal government. The Supreme Court decided that back in the 1850's.

And apparently, States can't voluntarily help enforce Federal law if the administration in power dislikes those laws. Remember that Obama's DOJ successfully sued Arizona for trying to enforce Federal immigration law on its border.

IF they are now saying this will “help” illegals, they must really be terrified of Trump’s plan.

As I outlined yesterday on Twitter, this is a Reverse Cloward-Piven move by Trump, collapsing the lib cities with their own filth.
