Democrats in New York killed a proposal for tuition assistance for children of veterans killed in battle and instead approved a bill to give illegals free tuition.
The New York Republican Party slammed the Democrats on Twitter saying, “Democrats just rejected tuition assistance for Gold Star families but approved it for illegal immigrants. Would these Democrats dare to look into the eyes of the children of fallen servicemen and women and say they matter less than those here illegally?”
Empire State Democrats quashed a bill on Tuesday that would have provided free tuition for Gold Star families that had lost a child killed in the line of duty in service to the country.
“The Assembly’s Higher Education Committee voted 15 to 11 to hold the bipartisan bill, effectively ending its chances of making it to a floor vote this session,” according to Syracuse.com.
But the move comes only a week after the same legislature passed a $175 billion state budget that contained $27 million to give free tuition to illegal aliens.

Family has been in South Africa and Rhodesia since the late 1700’s - about the time of the American revolution. Moved to Texas in the 1980’s after the communists took over.
She called herself African and got accepted. One look at her photo and that gorgeous Dutch ancestry - suddenly her acceptance was pulled.
Reapplied to UTA and was accepted. They wanted her money to keep operating more than they wanted to be politically correct.
Now with all of the PC in every college I wonder if a small (back then) publicly funded community college would even let her come for all of the out of state tuition in the world.

You’re right, it’s far from the first case of DemonRats putting illegals before U.S. citizens. It has gotten to the point now that it seems to be their first instinct throughout the party. America last in all things.
National Merit is open to all students. Their score must be in the top 1% in their state on the Junior year PSAT. There is National Hispanic Recognition which has a much lower qualifying score. There was a National Achievement scholarship for black students, but it was changed a few years back. That qualifying score was also significantly lower than for National Merit. Nothing for any other race or ethnicity.
If he was your kid would you support him claiming an ethnicity for financial reward, or have him try some other way to pay for college.
It is about putting American TAXPAYERS last; they represent the “taker” class, and these illegals represent massive reinforcements for that group.
