Dallas County's new district attorney announced his office will no longer prosecute "theft of necessary items" up to $750.

The announcement drew an immediate reaction from small business owners who are worried that word of the policy will encourage shoplifting.

While the Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot tried to clarify his new policy on Friday, some business owners are worried about what the DA's new policy will mean for them.

Baby formula is the biggie for thieves. Most cities have diaper Banks for free diapers. Many of the diaper Banks are located at food banks/food pantries in Texas.

If I were King, while DA John Creuzot was making that announcement his home would be invaded and robbed of "necessary items" less than $750 in value.

So how does this help Amazon’s online sales while retail sales are diminishing?

Our Walmart now has curbside pickup. Target has this also. Maybe this is the future. You order on-line, pay for it, wait in the parking lot and a store clerk delivers it to you. This may be the future for a lot of stores.

Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal. You may alter enforcing man’s law. . .but never God’s. . .there are consequences. Really leaves a message to the youth of the country. These DA’s probably never darkened the door of a Sunday School Class. So sad. . .

I used this today at Target, it makes things much easier. I saw where the local Safeway is going to start a drive up/pick up service.

I have heard that in Jamaica, you go to the store, state what you want to the clerk behind the bullet-proof counter (just like a bank), hand him your money and get what you requested from the bullet proof carousel. Maybe we’ll start doing it that way here as well.

No department in the US issues *revolvers* any more, except maybe some extremely rural places with no money and just one officer.

Service pistols these days are self-loaders/semi-autos and they cost as little as $250 (and possibly less) to departments that buy in bulk. That’s the lowest known publicly documented price that Glock has sold Model 17s to departments for.

Well, he was a Democrat who became a Republican when that party was dominant and is now back to his true roots. I don’t remember what the tantrum was, but conservatives stayed home years ago to teach a lesson and the Dallas judiciary has been solidly Democrat ever since.

$750 per day, every day for a year is $273,750

That’s likely more annual profit than most small businesses receive.

“Dallas County’s new district attorney announced his office will no longer prosecute “theft of necessary items up to $750”

My necessary items include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Glock 19. ($600 or so)

2.10 magazines for same. ($300 or so.)

3. 500 rounds of ammunition. ($250 or so.)

Let’s see how this idiot feels about that.

Actually, the 5% of the Katrina club swayed the vote just enough that the Republicans lost most of the county judgeships.

We worked real hard for years to beef up Dallas county and the hurricane created a rat's nest here in Dallas.

It’s all fungible. By taking whatever qualifies for the $750, shoplifters have that much more disposable income to spend on other things, including guns and ammo.
