Chicago Sues Jussie Smollett For Cost Of Police Work
Hotair ^ | 04/12/2019 | John Sexton

Posted on 04/12/2019 9:07:03 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

The city of Chicago’s effort to get some sort of face-saving reimbursement from Jussie Smollett on a voluntary basis was a failure. Smollett was sent a bill for just over $130,000 and given a deadline (last Thursday) to pay up. He declined. So now the city is taking the next step in the form of a civil lawsuit. From the Chicago Tribune:

The upcoming battle in civil court promises in many ways to mirror the criminal charges against Smollett that were abruptly dismissed by prosecutors last month. Both center on the same question: Did Smollett stage a physical assault on himself, claiming his attackers shouted racial and homophobic slurs?

The suit did not specify the damages that the city will seek, but the city said that more than two dozen Chicago police officers and detectives worked a combined 1,836 hours of overtime over at least two weeks while investigating Smollett’s claims.

A defiant letter sent last week by Smollett’s lawyer warned the city against suing him, saying the actor “will not be intimidated into paying the demanded sum.”

The key difference, of course, is that the standard of proof is lower in civil court than it is in criminal court. Also, filing this case gives the city a chance to lay out all of the evidence gathered against Smollett. The court filing was published by the Chicago SunTimes and it lays out the case in detail:

On the morning of January 25, 2019, Defendant texted Abel asking when Abel would be leaving on his upcoming trip to Nigeria with his 27-year-old brother, Olabinjo Osundairo
(“Ola”).

Abel responded to Defendant via text message that he and Ola were scheduled to depart the evening of January 29, 2019.

The lying racist should be in jail where he would see just how nicely he is treated by his fellow White-haters.

Maybe they should have just prosecuted the crimes.

Discovery is going to be “very enlightening” for everyone except Smolett.

And CPD is daring Smolett to countersue. Discovery will be delightful in any case.

From Screen to Scorn: For Jussie Smollett, a Life of Arts and Activism Is Upended [NY Slimes]

New York Times ^ | Feb 23, 2019 | Jack Healy, Michael Cooper and Serge F. Kovaleski

CHICAGO — Ever since he was a child actor growing up in a show-business family, Jussie Smollett’s life blended activism with the make-believe worlds of television and movies. ..."

He spoke of his mother’s closeness with the Black Panthers and prominent civil-rights leaders, and how she had encouraged Mr. Smollett and his brothers and sisters to create art and live out their beliefs. ..."

For Mr. Smollett, arts and activism were intertwined throughout his childhood.

His parents met while campaigning for civil rights in the Bay Area of California, and his mother had worked with the founders of the Black Panthers and prominent civil-rights leaders, according to a New York Times interview with Mr. Smollett in 2016.

Between child-acting gigs and press junkets that the six siblings did for their 1994 ABC sitcom, their mother, Janet Smollett, made sure the children played sports and read about figures like Malcolm X and Langston Hughes, she told The Los Angeles Times in 1994. (His family did not respond to phone or email messages.)

“I know their mother, Janet, has always taught them to stand up for themselves, and for what they believe,” Mr. Harris said.

[Feb 2nd] Smollett Siblings & Their Ex Black Panther Mom Finally Speak On Jussie’s Racist Attack

iloveoldschoolmusic.com ^ | Feb 2, 2019

The past three days have been deeply trying for Empire actor, Jussie Smollett, to say the least.

After being brutally attacked by racists early Tuesday (January 29, 2019) morning, an ongoing investigation has resulted in several discoveries, but still no suspects apprehended.

Now, Jussie’s five siblings and Moms have decided to address the violent attack, as well as what they plan on doing about it going forward.

FYI: Their Mom was an activist and a member of The Black Panther Party back in the day.

So neither she, nor her kids, will simply take this violent racist/homophobic attack against her baby lying down.

From the New York Times...

"Jussie and Jurnee still count their mother, Janet Smollett, as their only acting coach. An African-American from New Orleans, Ms. Smollett met their father, Joel Smollett Sr., a Russian-Polish Jew, in the Bay Area, where they campaigned for civil rights.

“My mom was in the movement with Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, and one of her first mentors was Julian Bond,” Mr. Smollett said of the Black Panther founders and the civil rights leader.

“To this day, Angela Davis is one of her dearest friends. We’ve spent Mother’s Day with Angela.”..."

"In 1970 Davis was implicated by more than 20 witnesses in a plot to free her imprisoned lover, fellow Black Panther George Jackson, by hijacking a Marin County, California courtroom and taking hostage the judge, the prosecuting assistant district attorney, and two jurors.

In an ensuing gun battle outside the court building, Judge Harold Haley’s head was blown off by a sawed-off shotgun owned by Ms. Davis.

To avoid arrest for her alleged complicity in the plot, Ms. Davis fled California, using aliases and changing her appearance to avoid detection.

Two months later, Davis was arrested by the FBI in New York City."

Meet the [35] Police Officers Murdered by the Black Panthers [and BP offshoot Black Liberation Army]

The Professional Gunfighter
Posted in: News, Politics, Terrorism

Below are the names and photos of 35 Police Officers who were murdered by the Black Panthers and the subsequent Black Liberation Army in the 60s, 70s and 80s [click link for list and details].

The Black Liberation Army was an organization that grew out of the Black Panther Party, composed of former Black Panther Party members, operating from about 1971-1980. Another two police officers on the list were murdered by the Weather Underground, a domestic terrorist group with ties to the Black Liberation Army.

Despite this readily available information, today the internet was full of articles criticizing those who were upset by Beyonce’s Super Bowl Halftime performance, and questioning how anyone could be upset over a woman “affirming her blackness.” Their analysis couldn’t have been more off.

We have no issues with someone “affirming their blackness” or any other identity they want to affirm. We do take issue when people pay homage to a group that used terrorism and violence to promote racism and revolutionary socialism – a group that murdered dozens of police officers in cold blood.

As you scroll through the list of officers below, look at their photos and read their stories. Among these officers are black men and white men. Rookies and veterans from across the country. Most were killed in unprovoked attacks and ambushes. They all left behind families….

Perhaps Beyonce, someone from the NFL, and someone representing CBS, could read through this list and tell us if they still stand by their decision to honor the Black Panthers during the Super Bowl. Then perhaps they could explain their answers to the surviving wives and children of these fallen officers. ...”

For all the money the city wasted being led on a wild goose chase over a hoax hate crime he perpetrated. For all the resources they could have spent prosecuting and investigating REAL CRIMES in a city with one of the highest murder rates in the country.

Who in the City said that? Not the Mayor ( a Democrat ) and the Police Commissioner ( a black man ).

The Legal Authorities. My point “which you seem not to understand” is that in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. Why would his Lawyers advise him to pay a fine for something he has not been convicted of doing?
