One day last week, amid spiraling fallout over special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi dialed up the president and requested a meeting. She talked to President Donald Trump about working together on an infrastructure package. It was the first phone call between the two since the testy days of the government shutdown earlier this year, and it seemed productive. They are planning to meet, she told The Associated Press in a Wednesday interview.

Alternatively, maybe with the Mueller Report no longer hanging over the President's head, and the growing possibility of the AG investigating Dems, maybe they want to make a deal to call off the hounds. In any event, some leverage has shifted on that front.
Of course, it might also be driven by the 2020 elections. Things have to be set up this year, because they know that nothing can be agreed on next year, going into the elections.
No wall. No infrastructure.

President Trump wants $8.6 billion for wall building next year, plus another $3.6 billion to replenish Military Construction accounts for what he plans to re-program toward wall building this year.
The is THE big chip that Democrats have to offer the President in a budget deal. They might also agree to immigration reform, but rolling the wall money in with a bunch of pork projects in Democrat districts would probably be more politically palatable.
It also might be useful to Dems, to defend them from taking a beating on the open borders issues, it they see that is hurting them with voters.
And “infrastructure spending” is money for the Dems’ donors.
Surprised the Dems have resisted it so long.
The first infrastructure needs to be built on the border.

Nah......Pelosi’s got to find something, anything they can agree on because the Demorats are loosing their base with all the nonsense they’re doing. Getting ‘anything’ on the table they can agree on is what she’s after.
Plus she’s going to try and find out what the scoops are Trump is planning ahead......he’s getting to close to the high powers that be on their side for comfort.

NOT a total failure: if she were, like Weepy Boner and Paul Ryno, the Dems in Congress would have given President Trump every item in his budget, and even more money for it than he asked for, then collapsed en masse at re-election time to allow the GOP to take over.
