Eric Swalwell Pushes Licensing, Insurance Requirements for Gun Owners

During his April 9, 2019, town hall in Florida, 2020 presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that he thinks licensing and insurance requirements for gun owners are worthy pursuits. Swalwell said, “I think most gun owners who are responsible want to see more licensing, and standards, and background checks. So I do support having higher standards. I also don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at, especially if you accumulate some of the most dangerous weapons, having insurance requirements as well.”

Swalwell also reiterated his push to ban “assault weapons” and use a mandatory buyback to take them from their current owners. He said, “Keep your pistols, keep your rifles, keep your shotguns, but we can ban and buy back the 15 million ‘assault weapons’ in our country.”

When an audience member asked about creating a national database on gun owners, Swalwell responded, “I just don’t buy that there’s going to be any national round-up of guns. No one is saying, ‘Round up the guns.'” He said fear of a government-sponsored firearm round-up is “illogical.”

[Should I expect a Minuteman III to hit my house if I refuse his dictatorial pronouncements?]

I think so. Could be an air burst. Just one of the MIRV devices.

It’s the Eric Swalwell way. Nuking American citizens.

Where else can you find a politician willing to nuke American citizens?

Oh yeah ... Iran.

We could vote California out of the US, it already is a Mexican colony in many ways.

California belonged to Spain (1769-1821) for more than twice as long as it belonged to Mexico (1821-1846). Shouldn't we let Spain "reconquista" instead of Mexico?

The first paragraph he says to take the guns (mandatory buyback) The second paragraph he says No gun round up.

He is talking out of both sides of his face or I am reading what he said wrong?

This man is insane. Hopefully some of his half-braindead constituents now realize that and vote against him.

Meanwhile, let him self-destruct with his stupidity and leftism.

If the 2nd amendment is licensed, I will demand the 1st amendment be licensed as well and refuse to give this horrible leftist a license to ever speak.

Of course, it is the latter that is already being licensed on college campuses with free speech zones that are only for the speech that the administration disagrees with. If they agree with it, it can be said anywhere.
