Travelers may have to take a trip to the DMV if they’re looking to fly, even domestically, after October 1, 2020. The Transportation Security Administration details on their website that they won’t be accepting standard driver’s license as form of identification to board domestic flights. TSA says that travelers will be required to present a REAL ID compliant license in order to travel within the U.S. Drivers can tell the difference between a REAL ID and a standard license by a gold star generally marked in the upper portion of the card. If there’s no gold star, then it’s a standard license and not REAL ID compliant. The new requirement will only be applied to travelers over the age of 18, minors won’t be required to have one if they're traveling with someone. TSA will continue to accept other forms of identity documents, such as passports.
Not that I plan on ever flying again as long as TSA is groping.
Renewing your Passport. Pay the extra $$ for the passport card. Better yet, pay for Global Entry.
What about voting? Will you need a gold star to vote?

I believe it applies to all “public” transport if the TSA asks. Rolling roadblocks, trains, bus stations? We were up for renewal so opted to get the star. We do NOT plan to fly anyplace for any reason anymore. But, things happen. PDJT may need me in D.C. and I’d have to go. :-)
I’ll go out on a limb right now and say that this Real ID law will NEVER be enforced.
Democrats and Cheap Labor Pubbies have allowed the country to be flooded with people who are not here legally. Most of them have drivers licenses, and can’t get the star because they are unable to produce the needed documentation.
Do you REALLY think that Liberals in the Federal Courts are going to allow them to be barred from boarding an airplane?

No more delays! Prove you are a US citizen, else no ID. Sad they even issue drivers license or ID to illegal aliens.

This whole problem was caused by California refusing to comply with the first attempt at real ID licensing so Congress had to extend and change the law to give them another chance. So those of us who have already gone through it once in our states have to do it again to get the little gold star.
Californians were facing not being able to fly without presenting a passport.
Mine doesn’t have one and it expires in late 2021......
