IMHO one of the main reasons that this country is likely to go socialist in what’s left of my lifetime is the fact that Corporate America keeps pushing every edge of every envelope to the outermost limits and beyond.
People are collectively running out of patience. This issue is a prime example.
If you cant play fair, you stand to get regulated; maybe broken up. Ask Standard Oil. Ask Ma Bell. That's just the way it is.
Dedication to free and open markets is not a recipe for suicide.
That’s a very astute observation. If it isn’t Pharma telling us to shut up and pay 10 times what they do in other places, it’s the tech industry finding one insidious way after another to work deep into our privacy and taking going 20 times further than they get permission for. The Nest cameras having hidden undisclosed microphones is the latest example.
If it’s not that, it’s the price for everything staying the same, then you realize they shrunk the tuna can from 5 ounces to 4.5.
If it isn’t that, it’s Romney type takeovers where they loot the retirement funds to boost stock price, then sell off the parted out firm.
All the chicken is enhanced with 15% brine and broth, and tastes nothing like it did back in the 60s or 70s.
Corporate America is having a merry time... as they busily murder the golden goose. It’s analogous to the era when they dumped raw industrial waste into rivers and lakes, we wound up with an “EPA”.
Their excesses now will soon enough give us a socialist government.
