In the #MeTooMaybe hoopla over the former vice president’s hair-sniffing and hand-slipping and personal space-invading, much cataloguing of Joe Biden’s peccadillos has emerged — for example, in Jonah Goldberg’s new column. It’s a handy summary.
But missed in these lists is a deeply troubling — I guess the right word is “lie.” It is one that Biden contrived — or at least perpetuated — over a deeply painful event: the death of his first wife and daughter. The lie hides in plain sight, amongst all the other oddball anecdotes (like his vowing to use his rosary beads as a choking device), maybe because it is so amazingly brazen, and because of its complete lack of being — here, I guess the right word might be “unnecessary.”
The sad story is 29-year-old senator-elect Biden received the horrible call in December, 1972, that there was an accident in which his wife Neilia and baby daughter Naomi were killed, and his young sons Beau and Hunter severely hurt. Mrs. Biden seems to have driven into a busy intersection, into the path of an oncoming truck. Its driver was Curtis Dunn. Investigators found him blameless. Of no surprise, according to his family, his involvement in the deaths of Mrs. Biden and her daughter weighed on Dunn until his own death in 1999.
It was a heartbreaking story all around, and with officials leaving no doubt of the truck driver’s complete innocence, what was the point of doing or saying anything more than letting Neilia and Naomi Biden rest in peace? As for Joe Biden, the tragedy was so utter that the accident’s circumstances were best left unremarked. Never mind unembellished.
But embellished they became. When exactly, we don’t know. Why? That’s a question the answer to which is unfathomable — or if for political purposes, utterly deplorable. For some reason, the evidence shows, in the early 2000s, Joe Biden began to remark in public that his wife had died at the hands of someone who “allegedly . . . drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch.” That Curtis Dunn “was an errant driver who stopped to drink.” That drunk-driver story spread into news accounts. The Dunn family, who had strong sympathy for Biden, was shocked by the sullying of their now-dead father. They wrote the senator and asked him to stop and reminded him of the exonerating investigation. When that didn’t happen, they went public. Per a 2010 Biden profile in The Atlantic:
For many years, he described the driver of the truck that struck and killed his first wife and their daughter in December 1972 as drunk, which he apparently was not. The tale could hardly be more tragic; why add in a baseless charge? The family of the truck driver has labored to correct the record, but Biden made the reference to drunkenness as recently as 2007, needlessly resurrecting a false and painful accusation.
This is truly disturbing. But by our current standards, hair-sniffing rates condemnation, while the false accusation of an innocent dead man, and the embellishment of a personal tragedy — could the Biden tragedy be more tragic? — are forgotten and/or ignored.
This says so much more about Biden the man than any too-close shoulder grasp ever could. It also says plenty about the contrition junkies who influence America’s news cycle, and, as Jim Geraghty pointed out recently, about the media who for many years had dutifully served as Joe Biden’s reputational bodyguard.
Winston Churchill’s famous quote about the British Secret Service during World War II applies to Joe Biden—he was (and so far still is) protected by “a bodyguard of lies”.

A 1972 article about the accident says: “Police said the station wagon “pulled from a stop sign” and was struck on the left side by the truck...”
It sounds to me that Mrs. Biden was responsible for the accident, not the driver of the truck.
Biden is a truly despicable individual. He is a career politician with zero accomplishments. That’s bad enough.
Throw in his sexual abuse of women—yes, it’s effin abuse. He violates women’s boundaries repeatedly. He retraumatized a sexual abuse survivor at a SEXUAL ABUSE CONFERENCE.
He could have and should have been arrested for some of his behavior.
How many times has he sexually assaulted women that were *not* caught on video?
Dovetailing and expanding with that, is Biden’s horrifically bad judgement.
Dingbat AOC thinks Trump might post nuclear codes on WhatsApp? Trump, of course, has no history of any such thing. Biden does. If anyone is a high risk for urping out state secrets, it’s the overgrown man child with the impulse control of a toddler.
All of that said, I would love to see Biden run against Trump. Sadly, it’s not to be. The clown car candidates are mere look squirrels. Michelle O will swan in at the last moment to save the party. Every state in the union will bend the rules for her.
This worries me.
For me, the most disturbing thing about creepy Joe is the way he paws children. The media focuses on the women who have come forward to denounce his unwanted touching. No one mentions the way he touches young female children. There is ample video evidence of this aberrant behavior, but no one goes there. I wonder why.

Not only are leftists seldom called out on their numerous policy and personal failures, they are allowed by the media to live in their own reality: Elizabeth Warren is a Native American; Jussie Smollett was really mugged; Bill Clinton never had sex with that woman; so-called trans-sexuals are something they’re not. That’s all of piece with this article - drunk driving is bad, so if Biden says his wife and daughter were killed by a drunk driver even if they weren’t, that’s okay, because drunk driving is bad and Joe Biden is good (or at least he was, until he got int the way of Left’s favored presidential hopeful).

I suspect that to keep any sanity, he ‘needs’ to think it was a drunk driver. Otherwise, why would his wife drive straight into a truck other than being on a suicide mission...due to what? One guess. And no, she wasn’t texting.
Biden saw this sort of lie about his personal life could work for his purposes the way such lies had for the Clintons.
After the innocent man’s death in 1999, Biden chose to incorporate the lie into his personal speeches and recorded remarks, to place some personal empathy between himself and his audience, just as the Clintons - especially Hillary - had so often done, successfully.
Their arrogant egos think of these things as no more than “little white lies” used “only” to shorten the personal distance between themselves and their audience, to make their audience feel either closer to them, or empathetic towards them. It is nothing less than a con job, because the person they are pretending to be, to their audience, is a lie, a fabrication.

That’s pretty outrageous. It’s much more likely that driving the car with 3 children on board, she was momentarily distracted.

That’s by design from the main stream media. There also pulling anther trick; they’re taking photo shopped pictures, which are obviously doctored, and debunking them (saw one on Snopes recently). This is to make the useful idiots and low information people think that all the accusations are about doctored photos, not the multitude of real videos that show him creeping out little kids.
Sorry, I don’t give Democrats the benefit of the doubt anymore - I’m well past that. The odds of driving into a truck, with or without kids, is next to nothing. Something, or more likely, someone, made her do it - and perhaps we’re now seeing just what that is, given Biden’s ‘wandering hands’.
Biden is one of the most reprehensible scumbags ever to be in our government and was protected all of his life. He still is as the left will deflect from his pedo perversions.
