Ratings for CNN and MSNBC continuing to crash, as viewers migrate to Fox News prime time
American Thinker ^ | April 3, 2019 | Thomas Lifson

Karma has come calling at CNN and MSNBC, the avid broadcast-promoters of the Russia hoax. Viewers who deserted the conspiracy theorists after it turned out that Mueller reported no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia are staying away and — even worse! — migrating to Fox News.

The culpability of these two cable news networks in promoting a hoax, employing former intelligence officials — John Brennan at CNN and James Clapper at MSNBC — to pretend to offer inside intelligence data convicting President Trump of treason, is serious. Lee Smith, in a long and thoughtful article at Tablet Magazine, calls it "an extinction level event." If they were independent businesses, it might be, but both are owned by huge, wealthy conglomerates that have many other business lines to generate cash and can use the influence ownership of a cable news network provides to protect and enhance those other businesses. Neither is likely to go the way of the dinosaurs, much though they deserve that fate.

It would appear Fox News’ pivot left hasn’t hurt them much, if at all.

Some of the MSM viewers might have been conservatives just keeping up with the left’s lies

If liberals decided to flip to FNC, will MeAgain Kelly have a second opportunity to become a STAR?

Good to hear of the decline, but PLEASE not to FNC. They betrayed Conservatives. We need a fair and balanced news organization - BUT IT AIN’T FOX.

d’rats request control over FNC editorials. WTP assumed they were already in control. How about all of US hear parallel news on every network with talking points set aside.

Fox News ought to shift around for a late show, bring in four comedians, and run something called Conspiracy Network News. All they should do is run fake and conspiracy type news...maybe bringing Big-Foot on occasionally, and interview fake Communists dictators.

They’re funded by government monies...foreign governments. They’re not too worried about ratings, except they do have to maintain viewership to be effective propagandists.

You really lost me there, since Kelly isn’t on FNC.

Or maybe all the former CNN and MSNBC viewers are now watching Shep, Juan and the Black DNC woman

I'd question whether it is actually viewers switching from one network to the other. I just think that when the news cycle favors the left, more lefties are likely to tune in, and they tend to watch CNN and MSNBC. Conversely, conservatives just watch less of the news/punditry when it doesn't seem "good" for our side. So, FoxNews rating slide.

But if the news is pro-Trump, the lefties get demoralized and don't watch the news at all, while the pro-Trump people are more likely to start watching, and they tend to watch Foxnews.

M. Kelly, a blonde attorney, was once on FNC and commentator of their FIRST Trump debate with B. Baier. Later, after contract negotiations fell flat, she hustled her buns to MSNBC which soon after let her move on as well.

Surely you remember Ms Kelly. She was a STAR on FNC for months

The FNC plan is obvious. Track just far enough Left to attract more liberals than they lose conservatives.

It is working for the.

Of course, V K :-)

I just didn’t understand why you said that liberals turning to FNC would make her a star again - unless you think they’d rehire her to placate them (I probably shouldn’t say that too loud!).

No problem....she didn’t draw liberals at MSNBC. Might she succeed at FNC in doing so this second time? TPTB apparently didn’t get their bang for the buck.

She wasn't on MSNBC, she was on NBC in the third hour of Today. She made enemies before she arrived because NBC ousted the popular Al Roker and Tamron Hall from that time slot to make room for her.

“Lee Smith, in a long and thoughtful article at Tablet Magazine, calls it “an extinction level event. . . . Neither is likely to go the way of the dinosaurs, much though they deserve that fate.”

For the folks in D.C., CNN’s campaign qualifies as, “well, it was a good try.”

Or maybe just bring back MAD TV.

It may be a good thing for FOX to have some lefty opinions - if people are switching over from the true left stations, hearing a little of the bilge they’re used to could comfort them enough that they’ll stay tuned and hear some sense.....maybe even some truth!
