Despite a vast array of factors standing in the way of success, the pro-life movie Unplanned which takes a decidedly critical view of abortion providers Planned Parenthood opened in theaters this weekend with surprisingly robust ticket sales.
The film is centered around the real-life story of a former manager of a Planned Parenthood clinic who has second thoughts about her position on the issue after witnessing abortions first-hand. She has gone on to become an outspoken critic of her former employer and the abortion industry in general as she now supports the right to life of unborn babies.
The pro-life film has faced staunch opposition from the predominantly liberal mainstream, such as receiving an R rating that will undoubtedly keep away some viewers, a refusal of some networks to air ads for the film, and even what appeared to be coordinated efforts by social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to suppress accounts affiliated with the film in order to stifle its reach.
Despite all of those obstacles and more or perhaps because of them viewers flocked to see the film that tackles the abortion issue in a brutal, if thought-provoking manner, as evidenced by a review of the film from a self-proclaimed pro-choice viewer.
Writing for the Central Florida Post, a woman named Bridgette Bayley who described herself as a pro-choice libertarian admitted that the Unplanned movie had forced her to question many of the assumptions she had held as true with regard to abortion.

I wonder if there will be “protests” at theaters when this film gains speed.
The internet videos about Abbey Johnson are very good. She is an excellent speaker.
It’s getting great reviews from the ticket paying public but crappy reviews from “critics”.....93% positive from viewers, 50% positive from the “critics” on Rotten Tomatoes. Go figure.
It’s pretty easy to figure. This is a cause movie (public), not an entertainment movie (Rotten Tomatoes). The entertainment value can be pretty low and yet the movie hit the target hard.
I saw it today. Very powerful. Cried a lot.
Yes.....I was being facetious.
“A Pro-Choice Review”... from the Josef Mengele fan club (the anti-U.S., lying, abortion-murdering traitor division).
Liberals despise opposing viewpoints. Their answer to dissent is the same as Stalin and Mao.
If someone really wants to “weaponize” the movie, commission thousands of licensed DVD copies and send them to random college freshmen students across the US.
Since some universities have the gall to intercept student mail, they could be put in one of dozens of Trojan horse envelopes.
Sorry, if you check out the website for Central Florida Post, you'll see that it is a conservative blog / news aggregator site, with some central Florida focus.
(And there is nothing wrong with that, but it means that this "review" is not a sign of true inroads being formed.)
Pro-choicers should see that those who picket abortion centers are not remorseless and evil monsters. One of the comments I heard most upon leaving the film was "I can't believe they (the pro-lifers) offered to help her (the clinic executive) find a new job if she'd quit." I totally believed it because many Christians are like that.
I hope somebody convinces Tomi Lehren to watch it.
Its a great movie, & I believe it can change you to become pro life. The problem is that it wont stay in theaters unless it makes money. We drove almost an hour to a theater.
A friend who saw the movie with us Sunday went to an abortion clinic yesterday & joined the people praying outside. She met 2 older women there who told her they had abortions in their youth. They told her they pray regularly outside this clinic.
Your comment reminds me of the woman my nephew is married to. They have no children, Love their Dogs, & March for abortion.
The pro-abortion religious movement's greatest fear....transparency.
Exactly right...
Thats why its important to take a teenager to see this movie. A mother & her teenage daughter were sitting next to us. The girl was crying.
An R rated film, meaning it is too gruesome for a 14 year old to view without parental consent....even as the act depicted, can be obtained by a 14 year old without parental consent. Does PP hand out blindfolds to minors whose children they murder?
