Usually a security issue found in a background check is handeled by face to face counseling to get right with the rules. It is considered a warning. Of course a repeated offenses after a security warning is usually grounds for being transferred to a less sensitive job or dismissal ... that is just how it is.
Lots of people are initially denied clearances until the issues are understood and reviewed by higher authority. The President is the final authority. People who have traveled and lived overseas often find it hard to list all of their associates and relatives. Just review the govt websites and look at what you must disclose. The older and more complex your life and accomplishments make it harder to get a clearance.
