The mainstream media has been bombarding Western countries with news about the need to phase out plastic from our daily lives in order to protect the environment, focusing on the World’s oceans. But how much of that plastic is actually the West’s fault? It’s easy to see awareness campaigns about trapped animals in all sorts of trash and wanting to do something in order to prevent it from happening again. Lately, the mainstream media has been on a crusade against the horrors of plastic in developed nations, targeting disposable items such as plastic bags and plastic straws. Are they preaching to the right audience, though? In short – no. If they want their campaign to be effective, the slogans should be written in Mandarin, Hindi or any African language. First of all, the disposal of waste in Western nations (and also other developed countries such as Japan or South Korea) is treated very differently than in developing nations in continents such as Africa and Asia.

Don't forget 'erf day' is fast approaching. Mark your calendar for April 22nd and get your tires prepped for burning. Did anyone else leave a bunch of lights on last night for 'erf hour'?

And if it’s true that plastic is not degradable, well, the planet will simply incorporate plastic into a new paradigm: the Earth plus plastic. The Earth doesn’t share our prejudice toward plastic. Plastic came out of the Earth. The Earth probably sees plastic as just another one of its children. Could be the only reason the Earth allowed us to be spawned from it in the first place. It wanted plastic for itself. Didn’t know how to make it. Needed us. Could be the answer to our age-old egocentric philosophical question, “Why are we here?”

Plastic… @hole.”

Here in Indiana all that stuff goes into landfills.
Some day our landfills will be tall enough for some awesome snow skiing hills.
It’s a plan for success in my view.

There was an article in Science a couple of years ago that said 95% of the plastic in the ocean actually comes specifically from 10 rivers in Asia and Africa.

Less than 2% comes from the US, and only a smaller percentage of that number from mismanagement of our trash streams. That 2% was mostly windblown litter from our coastal city streets.

And the greenies still say it’s our fault. They say we send all our recyclables overseas and they end up being dumped.

I do get angry when things come in packages 3 times the size of the product.

When will chips come in little square boxes instead of monster...1/3 full plastic bags.

We're not stupid...4 oz is still 4 oz...no matter how you package it.

Of course Pringles does this in a tube...but Pringles are yuk.

China don’t take our trash any more. Most municipalities have found their recycling programs are way over ROI costs. I.e. not worth the effort to make gangreen happy. But they keep doing it. For erf justice of course.

What the Heck is wrong with those third-worlders? Those insensitive louts are polluting the planet! That takes nerve. Didn’t they sign the “Paris Accords”? Maybe all the LIB nitwits who love the earth so much should leave us alone and, instead, go there and tell them what’s up.

My grandkids love Pringles...so I bought them some substitute ones from Aldis...a buck instead of a buck fifty. But those were really unedible, LOL.

We had 3 inches of climate change induced snow last night.
I’m certainly not worried about a lack of winter in the future.
