The extortion charge against attorney Michael Avenatti in the Southern District of New York is full of headline-making details: vivid quotes on tape, celebrity attorneys and Nike, one of the world's most recognizable companies.
By comparison, the bank fraud and wire fraud charges from federal prosecutors in California are considerably drier, relying on bank statements and financial documents.
But that dryness also means the fraud cases will likely be easier to prosecute -- and therefore more dangerous for Avenatti's precarious legal hopes.

Don’t think he worries about much!
Also, this guy is so dirty he doesn't seem to realize everyone isn't like that. His interpretation of Kavanaugh’s FFF in the yearbook was disgusting.
Will he be representing himself?
IMHO he’s a really accomplished criminal who has hundreds of thousands of dollars stashed in many secret places. Anybody who chooses to represent him is going to have to put him through a full squeeze to be assured of being paid. The LA case, as CNN says, represents a really serious threat to him, being based mostly on paper evidence. Fighting that case alone will take hundreds of hours @ something north of $500 per hour.
Looks like perjury right there.
Do they mean ‘his ass is grassed’?
Maybe he will be lucky and happen to know Kim Foxx.
JoMa
Geragos should represent him.
Looks like CNN has turned on him.
This is incorrect.
What he should REALLY be worried about are the connections he has to the MXVIM Sex Slaves trial today.
You will note how the media is burying and ignoring this trial, which SHOULD be the Trial of the Century??
He got a love letter from the incurious media the first time around so he probably thought he was home and hosed.
Looks like CNN has turned on him.

Sure does. The article is a straightforward, accurate legal analysis. Coming from CNN a real, pleasant surprise.
Shouldn’t be too awful hard to get CPL to lie to federal investigators.
Finding a shred of truth in anything he says...that’s the hard part
Fo’ real??
Hope he gets a recent law school grad. Preferably some guy who barely passed the bar on the second try, & who irritates the hell out of the judge.
I think what worries some people is that we haven’t really seen the full listing of connections to MXVIM slaves and participants. It may be that some journalists and Hollywooders have used their service, and I might even start to wonder if some political figures are attached to this.
Possibly a cokehead (he does have that hopelessly stuck in the 80s feel about him). Or, just extremely high on the narcissism scale.
They are certainly not mutually exclusive.
