Lack of big-name Democratic candidates at pro-Israel conference

Not long ago, if a U.S. presidential hopeful from either party was mounting a serious bid for the Oval Office, the candidate would seek a spot on the main stage at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) policy conference, the largest U.S. gathering of the pro-Israel lobby.

This year, it seems, not so much.

While the 2019 speakers list was stacked with officials from President Donald Trump's administration and Republican Party grandees, most major Democratic presidential candidates for 2020 were missing from the conference altogether.

If the facts were all known, it is likely that mostly illegal foreign Muslim money in US politics already outstrips American Jewish money in politics.

It is my understanding that presidential candidates are invited to AIPAC for the conference in the year of the presidential race, not a year before the race. I am a member of AIPAC.

President Trump's administration was well represented and there is no doubt where he stands with Israel. And he has no formal primary opponents at this time. The absence of Democrats, on the other hand, was due to their anti-Israel pro-Palestinian position more than anything else. They know that they'll still get about 75 percent of the Jewish vote, regardless of who the eventual nominee is.

Then I’ll venture to say the Democratic candidates are not serious about winning. I look forward to seeing whichever freak they nominate go down in flames, come November 2020.
