David Axelrod Unloads On Decision To Free Jussie Smollett After ‘Insidious’ Hoax

Tuesday at a press conference, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel strongly criticized “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett in connection to filing a false police report about an alleged hate crime.
On prosecutors the dropping charges, Emanuel said, “This is a whitewash of justice. A grand jury could not have been clearer — to the cost, $10,000 doesn’t come close financially, but all the other repercussions of this decision made to me, where is the accountability in the system?”
He continued, “Mr. Smollett is still saying that he is innocent, still running down the Chicago police department. How dare him? How dare him? After everybody saw––and I want to remind you, this is not the superintendent’s word against his. The grand jury, a sliver of the evidence, and they came to a conclusion as did the state attorney’s office. This is not the superintendent and the detectives’ department word against his. And even after this whitewash, there is still no sense of ownership of what he’s done. He says that, in fact, he is the wronged in this case. This is an unbelievable not just whitewash of justice. This is a person now who has not been let off scot-free with no sense of accountability of the moral and ethical wrong of his actions from top to bottom. I cannot stress enough that in a time when you have people bringing a moral equivalency in Virginia between bigots and those fighting bigotry, when you have a person using hate crime laws that are on the books to protect people who are minorities from violence, to then turn around and use those laws to advance your career and your financial reward, is there no decency in this man?”

According to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, Smollett pleaded no contest to providing false information to law enforcement in a 2007 misdemeanor case resulting from a DUI stop in which Smollett gave police a false name.[31] Smollett also pleaded no contest to driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and driving without a valid driver’s license,[31] and was sentenced to a fine and two years of probation
So, he has a history of lying to the police. This is not a first time offense. Then you throw in the false letter, and you have 3 times that he lied to the police.

By plan, they are compromising prosecution by showing public bias against the defendant.
Rush said it better per a caller from Chicago, but he cannot now be prosecuted.
Just as Trump's total clear on collusion charges lays bare the lies of the media, so does this lay bare the hypocrisy of the victim movement.
Those in the middle on these issues, or at least many of them, who couldn't make up their minds before (don't ask me why), should clearly feel the direction of the wind.
They tend not to talk about their beliefs. Being in the middle is generally a sign of a weak mind (or just not knowing the issues,) and these are exactly the ones most easily silenced by the threat from the left of speaking out.
Making a silent inner decision that 'well, this IS total crap', it will never be able to be measured, but it will surface in the voting booth and as a lack of political support and sympathy for the lefties.
GW said after winning the second term "I've got a lot of political capital and I'm going to spend it." In this case of Jussuh! ... the left is spending a LOT of political capital. Let them spend, what do they get for it? They merely reveal themselves to the dunderheaded undecideds, who are now a little less undecided.
A corallary though not perfectly related saying to all this is: "Don't spill your candy in the lobby." This is a big candy spill.

For years democrat politicians have gotten away with criminal behavior, the worst that happened to them was they had to resign. The only exception is if they crossed another democrat, then the blood sport would come into play. But people just shrugged and falsely attributed that to the system being rigged in favor of all politicians of both parties (wrong, just dems).
But here we see a highly visible case where it's 100% obvious the guy did it, tried to frame others for racial reasons, and he gets off because he's part of a protected class. Now it's not just politicians, it's any SJW leftist NPC that is allowed to go scott free for obvious crimes while regular people get harassed over things that shouldn't even be crimes. It makes it clear, there are two levels of justice right now and most Americans are on the wrong side of it. Maybe it wakes some of them up.
